CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose's brother and manager Reggie Rose said Thursday the franchise hasn't put enough quality players around the Chicago Bulls star to win a championship and that could be a "big factor" in whether he returns this season from a knee injury.

Reggie Rose said he was speaking for himself and not his brother.

"What have you pieced together? Have you made any moves? Have you made any trades to get better? You know all roads to the championship lead through Miami," Reggie Rose told ESPNChicago.com. "What pieces have you put together for the physical playoffs?

"Joakim Noah is a great player. Luol Deng is a great player. But you need more than that. You have to put together pieces to your main piece. The players can only do so much. It's up to the organization to make them better."

The Bulls stood pat at Thursday's trade deadline.

"It's frustrating to see my brother play his heart and soul out for the team and them not put anything around him," Reggie Rose said.

I see intelligence is in short supply in the Rose household

Someone please educate me why someone admitting they were previously mistaken and have changed their opinion is something to be frowned upon? It's not as though saying Lin was marginal was a principle that he needs to hold dear. Most reporters would simply ignore what they said previously and adopt the most convenient position.

I think at this point every fan is aware of the fact that Lin IS the better player. That said he probably still wasn't worth the cost as I don't think he'd have made a difference in the areas that REALLY REALLY hurt us. Right now our defense is the biggest problem--we are letting opposing teams walk right over us. Yesterday....if you keep Indiana at 95 points it'll have a much different vibe to it and the game goes differently. Lin would have improved our offense but IMO that isn't the biggest issue right now.

He is a better defender than Felton by a decent margin as well. The fact of the matter is getting Lin would have 0 effect on our cap situation since we were over the cap anyway. Its just money out of Dolan's pocket. Considering how many lottery teams we had over the cap the past decade.... I would have expected him to shell out the money but it was clear he was a bit butthurt even though nothing was offered to Lin in the first place.

Check out his ESPN radio podcast from today. The only reason he is saying this is because the backcourt of the Knicks is god awful. The trio of Felton/Kidd/Prigioni is just hot garbage, there is no rational way to defend it.

It's obvious letting Lin go was the wrong on-court move.

I think he was let go for off-the-court reasons though

NBA.com has Lin on the short list for all-defense team.

It looks as if Miami is going to pad their conference lead tonight.

Anyone want to explain the value that Washington received by trading Crawford? They didn't even get a 2nd round pick. Why did they do it? He's not a good player, but they got two expiring vets, even Ronnie Brewer fetched a 2nd rounder.

Locker room tranquility. Less is more in this situation.

Anyone else read this article on the 'Worlds Top NBA Gambler' -- pretty good read... And fitting with Hollinger recently being hired..

It's gotten to the point where LeBron feels so confident and so little pressure that he pretty much only takes shots he knows he will very likely make.

He's right, Bulls frontcourt an crush Miami in the playoffs. All they have to do is get Rose some perimeter scoring help and they have a good shot of making the finals. But instead they do nothing which makes no sense at all. I think this is Rose speaking through his bro, why should he even come back this year if they can't beat Miami?

Yeah I think that's what this recent surge has shown more than anything else. It's not some hot shooting tear he's on, like Melo or KD would go through... He's just got to the point where he only is shooting the ball, for the most part, if it's a shot he can either lay in or a pretty high % .. And it's not like he's cut back on shot attempts either.
