Step one:
Trade Stat and Shump to Toronto:
Stat: (2014) $23,410,988 vs Salmons (2014) 1,000,000 (guaranteed amount) +Amir (2014) 5,000,000 (guaranteed amount) + Landry (2014) $8,525,000 actual payment (on the books/cap: 6,250,00 + 3,000,000 cash included= 17,525,000
Why Toronto does it? To gain a pick or talent (Shump) and Stat is playing well- he could help them...
Why we do it? It reduces our cap from 23.4 M to 12.250 M
Step 2:
Trade Tyson to the Suns for Okafor and a 1st and 2nd in the 2014
Step 3
With Landry being owed 8.5 lets assume he's untradable- however, he will be on the books for 6.250. Lets assume we use the payout of 8.5- we can exercise the stretch provision over 5 years st: 1.7 M.
Step 4:
Exercise stretch provision on JR's contract: 12.4 remaining (maybe less on a buyout) over 5 years: 2.5 M
Step 5:
Exercise stretch provision on Felton contract: 7.8 M remaining (maybe less on a buyout) over 5 years: 1.5 M
Step 6:
Trade Amir's 5 million to any contending team for an expiring before July 1st - if you must throw in a 2nd rounder...
Step 7:
Trade MWP's 1.6 (assuming he opts in) to any contender...
Total on the books:
Salmons 1.0
Bargs 11.5
JR- 2.5
Felton- 1.5
Prigs- 1.6
THjr- 1.2
Landry- 1.7
21 million....
I said 18 million but that was if I was able to add Felton in the Tyson deal... I decided to make the plan as realistic as possible...

are we allowed to use unlimited stretch provisions ? and do we have to live with them once we make that commitment, or can we trade with the provision players ? really hate the fact we still got Bargs, Felton, Landry, and JR still here ? can you tell me your targets for 2014 please ?
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

Re: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread - Part Deux
kneega I need some clarity as I'm not in the same beliefs that you may have....
"If the player is waived from July 1 to August 31, then his remaining salary is paid over twice the number of years remaining on his contract, plus one. For example, if the player is waived on August 1 with two seasons remaining on his contract at $10.2 million and $10.3 million, respectively, then his remaining salary is paid over five years (two seasons times two, plus one), in even amounts of $4.1 million per year."
"If the player is waived from September 1 to June 30, then the current season is paid per the normal payment schedule, and any remaining years are stretched over twice the number of years remaining plus one as described above. For example, if the player is waived on December 1 with two seasons remaining on his contract at $10.2 million and $10.5 million, respectively, then the current season (at $10.2 million) is paid normally, and the final season (at $10.5 million) is stretched over three years (one season times two, plus one) and paid in even amounts of $3.5 million per year."
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q64
according to Coon based on your players you have they can only be stretched for only three years...not five, so the amounts will be different.
JR fits your bill now as do felton, but not those toronto players.
I also cannot see any team stretching multiple players and leaving dead money all over with a player if it's even allowed.

great question... I looked all over the cba and dont see any reference of a limit. I believe we can waive all of them
before I tell you my targets just humor me on my belief. I believe if we get under the cap at 21 million. Melo can convince Lebron to join him and chase rings on the biggest stage. There was no "Melo" on the Knicks in 2010...
Remember, Bargs 11.5 comes off the books for 2015.
Lets assume Lebron and Melo sign for 15 to 17 per- we could add Hibbert (whose from QUEENS) in 2015 for the NEW big three...
Melo-17 M
Lebron- 17M
THjr- 1.3M

ok - its a little higher... The point is if you really put your mind to it you can make it happen. As far as the knicks stretching multiple players- why would they care if it netted them a happy Melo and Lebron plus Hibbert for example in 2015? They Knicks got themselves in this mess they are just going to have to eat it to turn lemons into lemonade.

not quite. giving them all extensions would be the Knick thing to do...
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

ok - its a little higher... The point is if you really put your mind to it you can make it happen. As far as the knicks stretching multiple players- why would they care if it netted them a happy Melo and Lebron plus Hibbert for example in 2015? They Knicks got themselves in this mess they are just going to have to eat it to turn lemons into lemonade.
another question, how were you able to trade amir's salary if you waived him?
I never waived him... I traded for him and then I traded him to a contender...
ok, I saw 5 mil ...his cap hit is 7 with a 5% kicker via trade.
