My dream scenario is LBJ Cleveland, Melo to NY or Lal and Bosh to Houston. Riley and Wade left by themselves lol.

Moving Stat Shump and Filler for Thad Young, seems like a decent option to me.
Thad fits the Lamar Odom role in the offense real well.
Would give us space to sign Pau as well.

Thad has a player option next season for 9 mil, that he's sure to turn down.
Wouldn't be really killing the cap space, except for Pau's deal.
Pau's deal can essentially help Marc take a little less than what he wants

I think Melo's too young to go ring chasing as a second fiddle, if he's ringless at 35 then he should try to team up,--right now he should ride with Phil and get his money...

Clearing the space is a very big long shot, but LeBron aside, I'd take Melo and Bosh both are max contracts this off-season and call it a huge success.

Come at me haters.

To this point, still no firm indication from Melo or his camp telling Bulls, Rockets or Mavs that they're out of the running. However ...

I think the Bulls are probably out of the running (Pamplona), but wouldn't all the teams stay engaged with as many free agents as possible even if Melo was still realistic?

LA really gives Melo no advantage over NY.

Yea i think i made a post about a week ago saying that i think the Knicks are going to have to make the first move and either commit to rebuilding, or commit to going all in with melo, before carmelo will make his decision.

Nah, we thought by doing that and getting STAT in the first place, would make Lebron want to come here. It honestly ruined the whole plan..

Even by getting rid of Stat's deal which would open up room for a $6-8 free agent signing and a MLE deal, I'd think we'd greatly benefit. Problem is we keep eating little by little into that cap room

Just add Calderon, Smith, Dalembert (or his buy out amount), Ellington, Larkin, Prigioni, Tyler (if you want to keep him), the amount owed to Artist, and add a cap hold for every player you don't want to sign on top of that.

Meaning if you have 7 players and want to figure out how much you have to sign 2, you have to add 3 cap holds (12 minimum - 7 players - 2 free agents you want to sign = 3).

The more time passes without a decision from Melo considering he knows the Knicks offer, the more it looks like he is holding out hope to play somewhere else.

Whle I agree with this, somebody made a good point yesterday that Melo could be waiting to see what other moves Phil can make now vs. next year so that he can structure his salary accordingly.

Although, if that was the case, it would make more sense to inform the other teams that they are out of consideration.

I guess that could be possible, but what does Melo expect? We can't sign anyone that would sway Melo one way or the other. Is he holding out waiting for Phil to make another trade? Melo has to understand that if he resigns, more then likely, no impact player is coming this year to help him beyond what is here already.

Not sure if there is any legitimacy to any of this but......

What if we got Thad Young in return for Stat/Shump.

Then we were able to use either the MLE or just sign Pau outright.

We'd be looking at a Melo/Thad/Pau front line and next year.....

We let Bargs expire and trade JR (expiring I think) to make room for MARC GASOL.

I think I agree with SAS that if Bosh signs with Houston, this would open up the door for Melo to the Heat.

If we clear Amare and Shump to Philly..
What do you see Knicks doing with the $6-9million in space they get.

I definately see them giving Pau a 2year MLE deal, but to get the MLE you'd got to spend the cap space first?
Do they overpay a player that can help them today so that they can maintain the flexibility in 2015?

if we someone got to unload amare with shump why would we need to unload timmy and a future 1st for bargs. Bargs is a much easier contract to move than amare.

but if we were able to move amare and bargs along with shumpert and timmy (lets say). We would have about 12-13 million in cap space I belive after signing melo.

That would be assuming we took absolutely no contracts back.

We would really need to send out JR to get close to 20 to even think about going after LeBron but they who do we have playing with them?
