I just cant believe we couldn't get T Ferg. in the deal. Or at the least add a third team to take Kanter for some interesting prospects and picks. Well I guess Melo drama over so that's good at least.

Recalling all the rumors that Melo would be traded for Mirotic, gets traded for McDermott instead.

da says this all happened in a few days. says the rockets were trying to get us to take delladova or asik instead of ryan. says phil might have made the rockets deal.

sas says there was no offer from cleveland, they wouldn't return the knicks calls, says phil killed our chances of getting value for him

Has this been said yet?

Addition by subtraction.

If it hasn't it should be.

Not just for the team but for the whole franchise, he held it hostage to his ego from before he even got here.... and that's factorial.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Beas in the interview said he believes he can still be good and he's more of a willing passer now. Also lost a ton of weight with his diet. He says all he need is time and an opportunity.

Not saying he will blossom but it will be interesting to see who takes the challenge at hand. I believe Hardaway will be on a mission along with KP. However who is the third guy who will score. It's wide open, let's see who wants it the most.

This team will be damn bad defensively unless Frank is good off the bat. He almost has to start just for defense alone. Grow together guys. I mean Melo wasn't good on D so I guess it's not that big a deal. Would like to see some improvement on that end.

This is still surreal to me. I was one pushing to move on from the Melo era. KP's dominance in FIba is fiba but the moves he made shows he could be ready to take the next step. Let's see wtf he got

Also looking forward to see what Kp and Hardaway say. I want to hear something like "this is a business Melo will be missed but that doesn't take away from our mission to get better and go out there and compete"

kanter could be moved down the road. The knicks didn't want this to drag into monday so they had to get it done quick. THey probably will move Kanter or KOQ for maybe a future pick or something like that.

“Ummm. No one’s comfortable with losing,” he said. “If it means that we’re going in the right direction, we’re doing the right thing, then let’s do that. But just to have no idea of direction and now say we’re going to do this, now we’re going to do that, then it’s not going to work out. It has to be that the direction has to be clear, where we want to go, what we want to do and then actually execute.”

-Kp

The team seems to be working in that direction KP. Things are looking up for the Knicks if you ask me.

A day later and I still can not believe this deal.

It effectively became Timofey Mozgov (later traded for 2 first round picks himself), Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, 2 second round picks, a 1st round pick, and a first round pick swap for Kanter, McDermott and late 2nd round pick??? WOW!
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Except Phil has nothing to do with the Knicks and there are approximately several hundred scouts, GM's and other front office types setting player value.

Is it too late for you? Let me simply it for you.

What did you give up for Melo?
What did you get back for Melo?
Did you get back more from OKC than you traded away to get Melo?

Are you familiar with the concept of depreciation? At 33 years old, Melo is a highly depreciated asset. You can't go 7 or 8 years down the road and say that the trade effectively became this or that.

That is true. He did depreciate a lot. Do you think his depreciation had anything to do with his defense, attitude, ball usage, and his record on the Knicks? Did the Melo trade work out well for the Knicks success the last 6 years?
