That would never happen. Think about how the Knicks played for wins with Jeff Hornacek as the coach...and Mike Miller as the interim. Thibs plays his starters for 40 minutes for a reason. He will never coach to lose.

Players and coaches don't tank. They like winning and collecting stats to keep their job and get a raise. They are not very worried about draft their replacement.

Front Office can tank trading vets, exaggerating injuries, and resting players.

We can't trade anymore.

If we rest players like Randle and RJ, the plan could backfire because the team can play better because these guys are very tired.

It’s too late. Look at some of the teams behind the Knicks... this play in thing is absolutely stupid I must add.. the NBA is a league where more than half the teams already made the playoffs as it was.. the play in is unnecessary

it's too late to crack into the top 7, but not too late to get into the 8-11 range

rn, 538 projects the team to finish w/ the 9th worst record (w/ only 1 game separating them from 14). the difference between lottery odds for 9 and 14 is pretty significant: 20.2% (top 4) vs. 2.4%

20.2% isn't a great chance, but it's still a chance at a potential franchise-changing talent. 2.4% is no chance at all

We are almost a lock to get into the play-in tournament. The Front Office will not try to tank. We only drop from the East Top 10 if at least 2 teams from Chicago, Toronto, and Wizards surpass us at the standings. And they are awful right now.

We will not sacrifice the evolution of the team and the morale of the roster for 18% odds improvement.

If we do nothing, we will probably lose the play-in and finish in 10-12th range anyway

Wer should at least let a third unit run, run, run for stretches:

IQ, Frank, Knox, Obi, Noel

Set them free for a reliable 5 minutes, same stage every game. Let them gun.

Bullock and Burks were brought in on 1 year deals to be traded at the deadline for low first round/2nd round picks in the best draft in years. We started to drink our own Kool Aid and instead of sticking to the plan we kept them. The truth is we are going to regret not collecting as many assets as possible.

Didn't watch the game, Obi's stats looked decent but only got 10 mins if I'm correct. Don't understand the logic and Randle probably could have used the rest. We are never going to know what we have or how Obi can develop if he doesn't get real minutes in actual game situations. Even if its just to get him good enough to trade him.

Obi had a spin move turnover and Thibs yanked him. Which by the way was THE ONLY TIME he even touched the ball in the 2nd half. How many times have we seen Randle do the same and stay in??? But the real problem I have is the fact that (after a strong 1st half) he gets freezed out. Love Quickley but I swear we need a PG.

Would really love to see Ball pnr with Obi

Looks like Thibs and staff have been developing Obi up. Let's hope it continues.

Long season. Ups and downs.
They are better then we thought they are to begin the season.
They are what I (and most) think they are now - a .500 team. Evident we don’t have a lot of talent.
They’ll get it together.
Seems like we always struggle after playing Miami

absolutely. as talented as he is, I could see the honeymoon end fast with him.

I think it’s time we have that talks about thibs folks!!!!!

haven't you heard... earning mintues is just for young players. the only way to lose minutes if you are a vet is to get injured.

More assets? Knicks have how many 2nd round picks in the next few years? Bullock and Burks were NEVER getting you a first..not many teams can even trade a first to begin with, second Knicks already have 2 firsts this year. Cap space, they have that, most in the NBA..so what assets exactly are we regretting missing out on. In fact, I hope they sign back Burks, if they go upgrade the talent Burks off the bench would be nice..

Fatigue can cause injury, and this isn’t an excuse, but injury to RJ and Randle just might have slowed them

Sark wrote:The sad thing is that the next 2 drafts will be as talent rich as we've seen in a decade, and the Knicks won't have a high pick in either one because we're building around Julius Randle.

at least more posters get the bigger picture again. this year will set us back. we had a bottom 3 roster at the beginning of the season and the draft is top heavy. really incredible chance to get your co-star next to RJ, but we are winning many many games just because thibs has our guys competing incredibly hard and we are facing teams without their best players all season long. there is a very slim chance we upgrade the roster in the summer already. Only a handful of FA that can really help (with some of them restricted) and thibs would rather play 50 year old taj gibson then the 17th or 20th pick.
but hey, maybe one of burks, bullock, payton or rose makes the leap next season. :banghead:
