Grimes a better player than RJ?

what are we doing here folks...

I know it sounds crazy but you look at Grimes game and see right off the bat a modern day offensive wing/guard. The effortless outside shooting stand still and off the bounce. Looks like he has decent court vision too from the summer league games. If given the same amount of opportunity as RJ it could be closer than you think

whoa, look another trash hot take.

also realgm: "grimes isn't a 3 and d, he's more than that"

LOL Y U MAD THO?

pretty easy to find.

It was 58 mid range shots.

I think the 160 number is coming from combining Mid Range and Non-Restricted area paint shots.

At the rim and Non restricted area paint shots are separated

Tom really stepped outside of his comfort zone featuring this young, 36 year old prospect with major minutes where he showcased it all - confidence, middies, spinning, the layups and a rebound. Teams around the league watched on as he abused the league's best in the end of the bench studs on the Detroit Pistons. Hardened defenders like Trey Lyles, Jamorko Pickett, both of them at once, had no answer for Taj.

Now I know I'm going to take a lot of flak for this (and deservedly so) but I think it's time for us to explore some potential trade packages teams will aggressively be offering us moving forward. Taj is too talented to be playing limited minutes and value is peaking. Do the Sixers look to move Ben and picks for Taj? Dame for Taj/Knox/Theo Pinson? Somewhere In jersey I Know kyrie And The nets Scouting Team Has Taj On Their Radar. What's the play moving forward?

 jokes aside, some contender might give up a late 1st for him. a smart team might do that since we have 2 other centers and a 3rd one in the g-league. we won't though of course.

Over Thibs' dead body they'll move him for a first.

I posted that same statmuse link a couple pages ago showing him being below league average around the rim when you hover over that region

the link to the nba page is only showing dates from 1/1/21 to 2/28/21, was there some reason you selected those dates, here's the whole season https://www.nba.com/stats/player/1629628/shooting/?Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Regular%20Season

I think what Taj brings us in leadership is more valuable than some late first when we aren’t really relying on young draft picks to save us any more

i understand. we all want to draft a home grown talent that becomes one of the best players in the league. what could be better. but wishing it won't make it happen. if it could, wingo would get those charges dropped for masturbating on the a train.

Jokes? The only joke I see here is a late 1st for a potentially elite 3-level scorer who has yet to reach his prime (only 36). Would the Thunder trade Giddey for a late 1st? Or maybe I'll see a headline within the hour about the Hornets giving Ball away for a protected 1st rounder in 2024. Keep hating on our team shamms

Taj is the closest thing to his own child that Thibs will ever have so we won't be Marcus Morrising him anytime

correct, Taj has solidified his spot in the rotation and as Nerlens is on a 3 year deal and a large part of our success and future he will also be playing, Mitch will get showcased for a trade by the deadline and we have Sims as 3rd string emergency backup

I actually believe Mitch would get traded before RJ does so I sort of expect it to happen as well

There are three criteria that can change that destiny though.

If Mitch reaches another level this season
and
Stays healthy
and
Is one of the keys to taking us deep into the playoffs

then he'd remain a Knick

otherwise, if he doesn't tick all three boxes, I sort expect him to be traded or used in a sign and trade

If Mitch hits all three marks he'd make us a contender THIS season. He has the potential to be a top 5 defensive player in the league while cleaning the glass and scoring with those high FG% lobs and putbacks

So I will wait and see how he does, because you don't let go of Mitch if he goes to that level. He is literally one of the best defensive post talents this league has seen in decades

I mean no one’s gonna give us a pick for him any way so it’s a moot point but I rather he retire here then join our coaching staff or organization in some way. Trading him continue the Knicks curse of mistreating lovable figures in our team history
