He was scoring in isolation, he was not playing off of Luka, he was a release valve for the Mavs when they couldn't get anything else. In the playoffs he was scoring 1.07ppp in isolation, for comparison Donovan Mitchell scored 1.13. Brunson was 5th overall in the playoffs for points total in isolation, and 10th in points per game from isolation at 4.4ppg, Mitchell and KD were tied for 9th with 4.5ppg.
You're trying to make a point that doesn't even make sense, he was scoring when Luka was literally out injured, what presence did Luka have then?
He is a legitimate offensive weapon in his own right and with increased touches, usage and opportunity is a lock to be a 20ppg scorer, much like Brogdan and FVV did.
Excuse me if i'm a little skeptical but remember the last time we gave a guy a hefty contract who played well in a contract year. Played so well, we resigned the whole team while bringing in Evan. Brunson thrived in Kidd's 5 out system. I don't see Thibs running 5out at all especially if we resign Mitch. The fans screamed for him to play Obi and Randle together but he forced Gibson down our throats!
You can't let previous mistakes be the reason why you are skeptical moving forward, the difference here between Brunson and Randle is that his shooting splits this year aren't a huge deviation from previous years. You can look at his stats and see there's a natural progression going on and all of it comes to one conclusion, which was "Give him more minutes". The same thing would happen if we gave Obi 35mpg next season, his per game stats would explode but I doubt there'd be any big deviation from shooting splits unless he improved as a shooter.
The Mavs started Dwight Powell for most of the season, he doesn't shoot the three, they also play at the slowest pace in the league. Brunson might take some efficiency hits with us, but the usage will increase and his stats as a whole will go up, he's got all the trappings of a 20ppg scorer, just like Rozier, Brogdan and FVV had before him. He's not an A list PG, he's tier below that but he's still very good.
