No but his craftiness is not bad. Footwork too. Better than IQ’s at double the size.

this is basically how he's been used so far. very few iso heavy dribbling - 90% of the stuff is done with purpose.

Have you seen how the Raptors run their offense and RJ's action within it?

If not, then it's probably best that you sit this one out, chief.

Good for RJ. He was much better a player than people here treated him. This same board who has guys who still cream their little undies over Frank.

I will be happy for both RJ and IQ to thrive.

Nope. Just that I don't know much about Barrett besides the few games he played for us and thr games for the Canadian national team. The only reliable assessment of RJ is from Knick fans.

 You might wanna just see how he plays for your team. He's been in a non existent offensive system and asked to do too much while he was here. He shows flashes of being a solid player but, he does tend to go into slumps and Thibs is a moron.

He also sucked at Duke. The only even remotely efficient season he had was the fake covid year where he was showing as an almost league average catch and shoot forward. This was point Julio iso'ing then chucking a pass to the corner.

I hope he succeeds but I will believe it when I see him play well over a long period of time not 8 games.... Its not like he hasnt had hot streaks with us.

The 3 ball can be hot or cold, but the rest of it is more a function of the system.

With the Knicks he was asked to get the ball from the 3 pt line and create his own offense.

With the Raptors, he’s playing more off ball - cutting, give and gos, touch passes, overall more ball movement and less iso.

Interestingly enough, Scottie Barnes has been playing considerably worse since the trade.

RJ Barrett has a 65.3 TS% in his last 8 games.
Julius Randle has a 56.7 TS% in his last 8 games.

These past 8 games have been impressive from RJ but it brought me back to a similar stretch last December 2022.

12/9 - 12/23 (8 games as well)

27.3 PPG
5.6 Rebounds
3.5 Assists

FG: 51%
3PT: 47.7%
TS: 62%

I don’t believe Darko who has been a horrific coach this year has unlocked RJ in a way that nobody has been able to do in his prior 297 career games. At the moment he’s on a run. Finishing in the paint, knocking down 3s and pushing in transition. For me this is a movie I’ve seen far too many times.

I’ll be impressed if he carries this momentum post ASB (call it the final 20+ games of the season).

Since the trade, RJs TS% has gone up 10 points while Randle has not improved at all. Darko is doing something Thibs couldn't figure out apparently. I'm not saying RJ will become an all star this year but, something was clearly wrong with the way he was being used here. Something was clearly wrong with the way Thibs allows Julius to get away with murder but, everyone else gets benched or traded. Thibs is the problem.

RJ has been wildly inconsistent. I thought he could overcome and improve on that. But we will have to see if he can continue this or if it's another hot stretch. It does look like Tor is a better fit and system for him so far though.

He's 23. He's gonna be inconsistent and it should have been expected and accepted for one of the teams YOUNGEST players in the rotation all these years. It was an joke the way he was talked about around here. He's still 2-3 years younger than Julius was when he broke out. Double standard, agenda driven, trolling BS derailed every thread on here for 4+ years. No accountability. :o

Read on Twitter
?s=46&t=zuPcY8fhnHpu9xiKEp76gg

All we had to do was trade Randle and picks and get a player that fit with the core youth. Building around Julius was by far one of the dumbest decisions this organization has ever made. Anyone with a brain can see Julius numbers are largely inflated with how he’s played with Thibs and hasn’t made anyone better. Leon to me has failed. And everyday keeps getting worse for Knicks fans because we are always reminded how far we are from a chip.

Yea, he still has a few years before he even hits his prime. Lots of players such as Brunson and Randle have made leaps after 23. I think he'll get better. But can acknowledge there have been rough stretches

Nothing wrong with acknowledging his rough stretches. Almost all of his supporters have. It's not like the majority of the board was ever delusional over his production. The haters just lied and exaggerated everything while trolling the board for years.
