i think trading grimes for him is a dumb move imo. grimes is our best young asset. we should be using him in a trade to get an all star caliber type player if we were to move him. get dejounte murray already lol

he seems to like that shot. i'd like to see more of it when it makes sense. he's doing his best with the bully ball though. but yeah, maybe a nice mix up that should have more of a split.

the corner three plays should be our primary release valve. we have guys who can hit it and a coach who actually knows how to attack it.

Yeah Randle just plays from the top. Very rarely in the corner because then he can't dominate the ball lol.

It is a little weird that we’re going to move on from most of the kids. Most teams have some drafted guys on their roster. Brunson turning into a star just accelerated the timeline. They’ve got him on this cheap contract now and should do everything in their power to surround him with better fitting pieces. They better not just give grimes away though. It has to be for something better. If they end up giving away Obi and grimes for nothing, it should be a black mark on their resumes.

but yeah, it's weird. this is the guy was who the knicks were arguing over keeping with the jazz and now they're trying to trade him for bruce brown. who i like. it's just weird. it feels like bad asset management. maybe if you had some other young players on the roster on rookie contracts but you decided you didn't want to do that anymore. you didn't have the time for it. and i get it. they want to build around brunson right now. but he's still not a top 10 player in the league. how far are we getting ?

I always wonder if the front office knew tha Brunson was this good, that grimes would already be in Utah. It’s not the best fit but at least you’d have two stars.

It’s not great asset management but they seem to keep improving the team. It feels like the Bucks getting Dame for the package they did, gave this front office an out to start trading the kids for better role players. Maybe they can recreate that but it seems more like an outlier than the norm. I like Brown too but I’d be kinda bummed out if that’s who we turned grimes into. It sounds like we’re not in on Murray anymore either. Guess the goal is a shinier 2nd round team.

they better get that star because you're setting up a situation where everybody is paid and nobody is that young so there won't be much internal improvement from the players you do have.

It does sound like its Mitchell or bust. We will have to pay OG a ton of money, we have limited other contracts to move. They are settting up for this summer. If it doesnt work out I am not sure the fall back plan.

Other issue is how Randle will work out as a #3 option in all of this. We are gonna need him to play more consistent defense and play off the ball better...not sure if it works

I think Randle has shown he can play off the ball. He’s actually a lot more effective playing that way.

If he can buy in and focus more energy on defense it may work. I think that is a big question mark though because it gets ugly when Randle loses interest.

Everyone was crying all year, up until the trade, that we needed a big wing defender. Now that it happens, it's thibs fault if everything doesn't go perfectly? This is what everyone wanted for months. You can't make demands that and pass the blame onto the coach cuz the front office did the thing that you wanted. How do you go get that big wing defender without having to trade some of your good players?

Our starting line up right now is elite and fits together way better. Sorry that needed to sacrifice some of our depth but you don't get good players for free. Also why is he assuming that Grimes is being sent out for picks? There's literally not reason to assume that at all. Every rumor about moving has them attached to some sort of bench guard. It's like he's getting upset about a situation he's made up in his head.

Also what coaches don't have any say in the rosters that they're playing? Like does he think it's only scouts only speak to the people in the front office and none of the coaches? I hate to say it but Luke Kornet is a way better player than Precious or sims. Every minute Precious has been on the court it's been complete disaster. You just want to lose some games to give him a couple extra minutes? That whole video makes no sense.

Knicks twitter is very weird about Thibs. That Poppa left dude screamed out fire thibs standing at the alter, across from his wife at his wedding. How could that thought even be in your mind at that moment?

Thibs is far from perfect. He's stubborn, plays favorites and doesn't make adjustments well but he wins a lot of games. Maybe another coach could have gotten RJ and randle to fit together better offensively but their probably only the handful of coaches that are better than him. That's why I'm not in a rush to run the guy out of town.

Knicks had to sacrifice some depth to make the starting lineup stronger and fans are mad that Thibs cant somehow turn Deuce, Malachi, Fournier, Precious and Grimes into an amazing bench. They need more talent

That's not even the worst thing I've hear from a groom at the altar this month lol

But besides that, the criticisms of Thibs are largely warranted. A good offensive coach can get more out of players, like OG is a great cutter, Grimes has shown flashes of cutting and moving 3s, I know DDV is playing great but he has movement shooting ability too. Get guys in motion because the offense stagnates way too much right now. Especially when Randle has the ball, when the double team comes, guys need to move to get open as it's coming, not wait until he's picked up his dribble

Also, even without injuries, we need Brunson and Randle to be in as good of condition as possible in the playoffs. I genuinely think part of the reason why Randle struggles in the postseason is because the season and Thibs wears him down. Yeah a lot of it is Randle not giving effort, but it'd be easier to give effort if you have the energy to do so.
