Karl cannot anchor the defense. It's a bad idea I think.

I'm assuming the thought process is JJJ would be the anchor of the defense with his rim protection. KAT's going to be targeted on defense no matter what position you play him at. Teams will attempt to bring him up into the pick and roll but JJJ could provide some weakside shot blocking beside him with more mobility than your traditional center to help and recover to the perimeter.

I could also see JJJ and KAT in foul trouble 5 minutes into the game.

exactly, as long as KAT is on the floor, he's a liability defensively, but having JJJ next to him to help for weak side help defense would help cover up some of KAT's deficiencies

Supposedly Orlando has to renounce option on one of four players. Two - Gary Harris and Caleb Houstan -- often shoot over 37% from three. Houstan is listed as a 6'8" GUARD. The other two are Wagner's brother Moritz (so probably a keeper for them?) and Cory Joseph. Though 33, would he be a good 10 minute cheap Brunson backup? Houstan sounds most intriguing. Anyone have opinions on him? On his D?

I think it is very likely we trade Mitch for Donte. We will take our chances developing Huk and extending him for cheap like we did Deuce

I also think if we hire Taylor Jenkins, he is gonna want Donte cause that's one of his guys.

I think certain things would have to happen via other teams trades first before this could happens but it’s a possibility.

We also don’t know if Jenkins wants to run that system he had with the Grizzlies. It’s a good chance, but not a sure thing. It’s very weird for so much stuff to go down during the finals. I am not saying it’s unprecedented but usually teams fall back and let the finals happen before they announce trades and what not.

Jenkins' relationship with Donte was when Donte was a rookie with the Bucks and Jenkins was an assistant for him.

From what I see with a lot of new coach hires around the league, it usually feels like the team tries to acquire at least one guy that has a previous relationship with the coach.

Thibs for example got the Knicks to get both Taj Gibson (multiple times) and Derrick Rose.

Are there other former grizzlies easier to acquire. Like on a minimum deal?

Dude was a DPOY, is 6'11' and uber athletic, over 37% from 3 scored 22 ppg last season....and we dont even have to give up KAT..? A few extra fouls a game be damned I'm hopping on that train without hesitation.

Not unless they are assured of extending him.

Houston loves Mikal as a fit for their team and offered fore first round picks for him

Only players that matchup salary wise are Dillon Brooks ($21) and Green makes ($33).

I dont like Dillon Brooks, but if we get Taylor Jenkins, I think it would be very realistic to trade Mikal for Brooks and 1st round picks

Brooks, Eason, and two 1st rounders for Mikal and Dadiet would be fine by me.

Three-way trade where we take all the pics they give us then add to it and convert it into a better player than Mikal

I'd target Jabari Smith and Cam Whitmore + picks if they decided to trade Mikal

Some can't even see logic due to a narrow perspective

Wait...4 first rounders for Bane? So much for the trade market picks package normalizing when a mid 20s superstar only gets 1 first round pick.

This is why Bane has so much value....he is one of the most well rounded NBA players in the entire NBA and he is essentially on an extremely reasonable controlled cost until 2029.

Memphis got 2 role players, 4 unprotected picks and also freed up space to sign a better defender like a Mikal (for instance) in his place. Or a 3 way where Knicks convert Mikal into something else, if they prefer, and then get JJJ.
