Real Plus-Minus - Shooting Guards

Khris Middleton is ranked #1 for DRPM and #2 for RPM and WAR out of all NBA Shooting Guards only James Harden beats him in both cats.

Danny Green is ranked #5 for DRPM and #4 for RPM and WAR out of all SG's.

Wesley Matthews is ranked #8 for WAR and #10 for DRPM and RPM out of all SG's.

FYI..Klay Thompson is ranked #4 for WAR, reason is because his ORPM is over 4.00, the same for Korver ranked at #3 (4.61).

Out of all NBA Players WAR, Middleton is ranked #11, DGreen is at #17 and WMatthews at #39.

Middleton, DGreen and Wesley Matthews are all definitely players we should be targeting for our SG/SF? Position (s). Hope Phil will reach out to them.

The only player who did well coming off a Achilles injury is Dominique Wilkins. Kobe only played 30% of possible games so far and Chauncey flamed out when he came back. I rather not think about Wes as an option at all.

I mean if the knicks want to bring him back as the 15th man on the bench that is a good vet teammate and leader in the locker room fine.

But that man should never see the court next year if all goes well.

I mean if the knicks want to bring him back as the 15th man on the bench that is a good vet teammate and leader in the locker room fine.

But that man should never see the court next year if all goes well.

i don't see him as geting significant minutes, but i could see why they want to keep him around. he will probably play spot minutes, which i'm fine with. i don't think anyone is OK with depending on him in the rotation. but he's the type who will always be ready. not every end-of-bench guy has that in him.

i also don't think he's as bad as being made out to be. this whole team is bad together. we're asking him to play big minutes and carry the load at present. he will be fine to hustle for us in spurts. lou amundson the same.

If we land Towns and we strike out on LMA, Gasol and Green then Monroe wouldn't be a bad call, assuming its not too high a contract

Jackson I don't think fits

Deng is ideal especially with the triangle and smaller ball being the new NBA
Danny Green impresses me and Id like to add him to the list along with Mathews and Affalo.

If we miss out on all those guys - Butler and Lenard too - then I think Milsap is the top priority

I'd rather over-pay for a younger player like Knight, Middleton, Jackson than bring in guys that already have 8-10 years of NBA mileage on their bodies.

Even Gasol scares me --- is he ever going to be better than this year? LA -- will he really fit with Melo?

In the Town Hall meeting Phil mentioned Vets and leadership... didn't really hear anything about "young" anything.... he even joked about getting our pick out of the nursery... maybe I missed something. Watched it twice. I think he would mix it up...

There was a part of Phil's comments where Hahn asked Phil what the new team would look like on the court. Phil referenced how Red Holzman was allowed to come in, take a collection of young players (outside of Debusherre) and teach them the right way to play. He mentioned that the development of a team can't be rushed but takes time and that you need to give young players enough time to develop an identity and a style of play.

I took those comments as Phil not wanting to chase older/short term fixes in FA but rather taking a young coach, a high draft pick and surrounding them with younger pieces so that the team can grow together and develop the identity Phil wants.
