also to note a Precious decision has to come in the next week or so. Because if the Knicks do sign him they can't trade him for 6 months which pushes them right up against the trade deadline date. You just cant sign someone and then trade someone quickly. So if they do not find a S&T he basically is on the team up until the trade deadline they just can't risk going over the date so the 6 months come after the trade deadline.

February 6th is 6 months and 13 days away. They have to do something soon. It leads me to believe they are trying to find a trade to include him in first. I suppose they could wait until August 3rd. That's the big date for Randles extension. It would leave them up against the deadline for sure.

Something is up with this scenario though. I don't see what Precious would gain from waiting to help is in a S&T. What are we waiting for?

They would probably offer Precious as significantly more money than competing teams, that's my guess as to why he'd wait.

Yeah we certainly have the largest offer to him. Probably that 3 year 30 MM range with 2nd and 3rd years being team options where we can either let him walk or use him has trade fodder.

No one is probably offering more than the 5 MM a year...so he's getting more than that right up front he just has to have some non-guaranteed years in the deal and they are just waiting on seeing if a S&T makes more sense or just signing him to potentially trade him at the deadline.

At this point he's waiting because the knicks also want another decent size contract on the roster for future trade purposes.
