I don't know about the rest of the board BUT I was sick and tired of shooting guards coming into the garden and treating it like it was their home court. I said it from the gitty up I wanted a SG who could shut opposing guards down at all costs.

yep. that was one of my pet peeves as well. we needed that guy, especially if we're gonna match up with the heat.

So do you guys think Iman can start right away? Fields prob starts, but you never know.

Chauncey / Toney
Iman / Fields / Rautins?
Melo / Walker / Brown?
Amare / Purp
Ronny / Jeffries? Shelden? Jordan? Harrellson?

At least wed have 2 defensive guys in there with Iman/Ronny. Chauncey might not be as good defensively as he used to be, but he still preaches it and tries. Amare is a terribly on ball defender but he was tops in the league in blocks, while Melo can be a very good defender when hes dialed in.

I mean if Shumpert develops that shot of his and Dantoni stops being himself that defense looks solid. Of course we need more big men but Im sure we're going to address that sooner or later. Maybe we trade Toney for somebody, who knows.

IF he can ever develop his shot and improve his shot selection, this guy will be a big time player. He has rare combination of speed, power, and athletic ability.

I wanted a SG that can defend his position with the best of them, and can also knock down 3's. The more I think about it, Melo's game has evolved as more of a shooter, and as he ages, he will only improve, and we can find our shooter at the point to go along with Melo.

Chris Paul/Toney Douglas
Iman Shumpert/Landry Fields
Carmelo Anthony
Amar'e Stoudemire
MIA/Jerome Jordan/Josh Harrellson

Looks like our roster in a year. Don't really wanna go towards the 2012 route, but that's what management wants.

I'd like to pickup Flynn, and a Varejo/Dally piece and work on building an actual team.

also, we're always talking about how "herb sucks" as a coach and want not, we're always saying "oh we should get so and so to coach our bigs" or whatever; you gotta think that some of melo and amare is gonna rub off on him as well. if he becomes half the offensive player that melo is, packaged with those physical gifts he already has, he could be really good.

Has anyone from the FO said that Iman projects as a sg?

If he does I'm really excited about this pick(granted my knowledge of the other prospects is minimal). But a two who is a freak athlete and plays D is exactly what this team can use.

His name and game seem like he was meant to rock the blue & orange.

Welcome to the Knicks Iman Shumpert. Work on that J and do what you do and us Knick fans will love you.

It's hard for me to get excited about this pick, but there are certainly reasons to like it.

-Known as an outstanding defender - maybe he's our Wade-stopper
-He has good size for a shooting guard and obviously outstanding size for a point guard if he can play it.
-He's both athletic (highest jump at the combine) and strong (weighs 220, which seems very solid for a 20-year-old guy) and his measurables in general compare well to players that are already successful in the league.
-There's evidence he may have potential in the shooting department (good form, good free-throw % and shot well in workouts)
-Was reputed to fair very well in workouts vs. other players
-There will be plenty of minutes for him split between the 1 and 2 if he's up to the task.

We just won't know until we see what he can do in the NBA. He could be a valuable player for us if he pans out.

Mecca if you want to see the Knicks contend for a CHIP in the next 5-7 years you want to go the 2012 route because it's the best chance we have ... so we have to be patient and hope for the best.

His shot will be fine. I think his poor percentage had more to do with defensive pressure than an inability to shoot. He's got a silky shot and when he's working off of Amare and Melo double teams he'll make the defense play. His defense is ravenous. He's been working on that his entire life. He'll be able to keep up with Wade and Rose. Seriously. You guys are going to be pleasantly surprised when the season rolls around.

I don't think the Knicks know if he'll play the 1 or the 2 yet. Kinda of like Landry Fields last year.

Who would have thought after the all the arguing that we did, we'd end up agreeing on the pick?

"Good chance NY drafted Shumpert to land Steve Nash at some pt. Shumpert does not fit into D'Antoni's system. Defensive PG who can't shoot."

What u think Knick fellas? You want Nash? I think Iman Shumpert is a Suns pick cause Suns wanted him badly. Nash/Warrick (14 million) -for- Billups/Fields/Shumpert (15 million)
