True, the caparison isn't completely fair, but the numbers I quote were when Amare was at PF. Not C (although just looked at the center numbers and they are a little better LOL). And the team has effect on them too. But the eye test also backs up the fact he is a bad defender.

I don't argue for trading him for poo. And that is the reality, that surgery was 5 years ago. Micro Fracture surgery leaves a knee more likely to break down from use. Right, it might not happen, but seemed every other team in the league and the insurance company didn't believe his knee would make it to the end of the deal.

Which will make trading him harder, but if a team is willing to bite and give back good value, go for it.

Edit: And Kmart, who is a genetic freak, wasn't able to avoid further issues with his knees. I saw how his contract hamstrung Denver. Don't want to see the same in NY.

I understand that but KMart was done pretty much immediately after the surgery. He never got back to the level he was before surgery despite having had a fruitful career since. Stoudemire has. In fact you can argue he's better now than he was before.

i don't think it's hate. i don't hate amare stoudemire lol. i don't even think he is trash or anything like that. he can be the best player on a playoff team. he is good enough for that. what i doubt is if he the correct right hand man to carmelo anthony.

I just think if Amar'e is getting paid a full contract, he should at least be decent on the defense or at least try. This is why I think if the Knicks can get benefit for trading Amar'e, the should. I do not think it is fair for Amar'e to do the scoring, while the Knicks are trying to build around him by getting defensive players because he cannot play defense.

He's actually been putting in good effort (for him) the last couple of games. As opposed to the earlier games of the season. That's all I ask from him. He's also been putting in work on the boards. This has helped pacify my anger for the time being.

Since coming back from injury after missing two games, Amare Stoudemire has been a true force during our last 3 games. During our last 3 games he's averaged 23.3 points and 10.6 boards per game. If Amare can continues to rebound on the glass, we'll become serious contenders with Tyson at the Center position.

Some of these fans have already forgotten that A.) Amare is not only coming off an injury, but was also forced to rehab an injured back during the offseason due to a postseason pulled back muscle during last years playoffs against Boston, B.) A rusty Amare Stoudemire (due to a pulled back muscle) never had the chance to have a full offseason of training camp or practice, and only played two preseason games due to a shortened offseason thanks to a potential lockout and last but not least, some of these sorry ass fans turned on Amare Stoudemire because of two off nights (games). Which was (and has been) pathetic in it's own right.

I guess Amare should have said "sorry" for being rusty despite the different types of situations he was playing through.

Being a willing fan of a possible Amare for Dwight trade is one thing, but creating a thread (and supporting a thread) which states "Amare must go" was out right pathetic. How quickly some of these "fans" forgot which player not only turned our franchise around, led us to the playoffs, but also came here during a time where our team and franchise was considered to be a laughing stock joke... All because of two off nights.

Pathetic.

I think a lot of frustration with Amare come from the fact that you look at the guys physical attributes and you have to think to yourself, there’s no reason why he should not be a good defender.

The guy has all of the physical tools size strength quickness, leaping ability etc.. He should be a monster on the boards and a great weak side shot blocker. The thing is this year is probably the first time he has played on a team that is trying to focus on defense. We’ve all seen numerous times where he was out of place, or made poor rotations and Chandler pulled him aside and let him know where he needs to be.

Stat has the ability to be a good defender, really he has the physical attributes to be great defender. I don’t think he has ever been taught how to play good defense in the NBA, however his effort on that side of the ball is extremely lacking. We need him to go hard on D and on the boards. We need that aggresive Stat that shows up on the offensive side to show up on the defensive side.

If he does that, I think the trade Amare sentiment goes away. if he doesn’t than it will continue. It’s up to Amare to put forth the effort and focus in on that side of the ball..

When Stat rebounds & plays defense, we are a much better play. I hope he keeps fighting for rebounds, like he has in the last 3 games.

I have always said the Amare was over paid....I don't think he has a versitile skill set enough to justify $100million...However, he is a premiere player when he does have a PG that can run the P&R and is hitting his shot and crashing the boards. I think this is prereq for him to be successful and hence the team. Is it time to trade him? NO. Everyone goes through slumps, especially with alot of time off. I wish Amare success in the next few games, I think this is what he needs to establish a good rythym for the rest of the season.

Also Amare is the kind of player who benefits greatly from playing with a point who can create, so I'm hoping Amare will come alive with Baron coming back.

this thread makes me wanna smack some knicks fans...can you say overreaction to a couple poor games.

The last two games he played great. He is actaually making a more concerned effort to rebounding this year which I like. Once he gets his outside shot down (which will come) he will be back to the top PF in the league!
