I kept seeing JR and Timmy chucking up threes from all over the place especially JR the idiot brushing off Melo on the last play. I'm so sick of this guy. Does this Negative IQ player carry any trade value? I feel like I say this almost every game, I don't care how but JR Smith has to go ASAP. Any good is grossly outweighed by bad with his stupid play. I absolutely HATE JR Smith with a passion.....
They didn't look half bad in the triangle for stretches. It's actually pretty interesting to watch after I learned the different options in the triangle while playing 2K15.
Bottom line is that we just need better all-around players. Acy, Dalembert, Smith, Larkin and Hardaway are bench players. Shumpert is a 5th option on a championship team. We see Amare yam it down and JR hit stepback jumpers, but all it does is trick us into thinking they're good or have potential, when in reality, they're scrubs.
Is Calderon gonna change anything? His shooting could open up lanes right? Maybe they can actually attack the rim more and not get destroyed in FT attempts every game. I dunno, I'm just sick of losing for the last 15 years.
We don't have players who have a history of getting to the line other than Melo. And even with Melo, he's actually not skilled at drawing fouls unlike other stars because Melo he likes to post and play bully ball. JR did it for a half season in his entire 11-year career. Calderon will help because he's better than Larkin and he fits the system, but he's just a average NBA starter at this juncture of his career, IMO.
I think our best chance of winning is similar to how we've played prior to the regime change. Melo at the 4, with 3 guards and Dalembert/Aldrich. The ball will move faster, the spacing will be wide open, and we can rely on quickness and gang rebounding on defense.

With Melo, Shump and 2015 draft pick we have 3 starters on a championship team!!
Now lets get the other two via FA and/or Trades and we'll be set for good!!
I would assume that's the plan. 2 major FAs, or 1 major FA plus 2 good role players, and our draft pick.
Jose, JR, J.Smith, 2018 first for Jackson, Morrow and Perkins
SL: Jackson/Shump/Melo/FA/Draft
Bench: Marshall/Thanasis/THJ/Morrow/Early/Acy/Cole and 3 vets (Manu the pipe-dream)
Strength and Honour!

Karl Towns is a better triangle fit and prospect to me. 7-0, 250, from Jersey. He was ranked as third in the 2014 draft class before reclassifying. Good shooter, great passer, good rebounder, great leaper with a running start. Weak inside on both ends but still gaining weight (went from 235 to 250 in a year and a half). Reminds me of a taller Al Horford.
Muiday is a 6-5 PG. His dad is 6-10 and his older brother is 6-8 so he might not be done. He was close to playing at SMU under Larry Brown (I wanted it to happen) but he went to China instead. Outplayed Stephen in his first game and just posted a 22/11/13 triple double his last game. He's averaging 19/7/7 in 5 games so far this season.
Very impressed with Towns passing ability. He's got it. High IQ too. Not so sure about his inside game. Surprising nice touch from outside.

Seriously, is there anyone dumb enough to trade for JR Smith? What are the chances he's gone before the deadline? That Copeland deal still possible, or nah?
Make the Knicks great again!

Won't play back, "restricted playback by owner." Anyhow, go to around 3:95 mark where they show clips of his passing. Unreal vision.

At least we can watch the season knowing we have our pick. And TBH, once Jose comes back, things probably really change, that moves us to just being mediocre and maybe out of the lottery. But we still can't play defense as a team.
Last year was TOUGH, no pick and full "tank" mode. This year is at least a little retribution.

I agree with your assessment. Our best chance of winning now is by playing our previous style of play. However, I do not agree that we should revert to that style of play.
1) Our best chances of winning still aren't very good. This is a bad team. It's even worse without Calderon. I don't even know how going back to the previous style of play would affect Shump.
2) The triangle takes a while to learn, but it can win. Depending on our system, we should try and sign different players. For example, if we want the old system, I recommend getting Dragic and Asik/Lopez. But if we want the triangle, we need to at least get Gasol/Millsap and go from there. We're going to have to go for the latter, unfortunately, so we need to stick to this system. However, in the long run, Melo's sacrifices to learn this system will pay off in wins, and a longer career for him.

Just read this depressing fact on P&T. I assume it's true.
The Knicks just lost a home game to a team that prior to tonight was 0-30 on the road in the 2014 calendar year against non-Sixers teams.

I don't want to go back to the old system either. I believe in the triangle, and I believe it when Phil says it adds 10 wins to a roster. The Spurs run a read-and-react offense, and in my mind, they won the championship the past two years. Portland runs similar stuff, too, and they're not exactly a roster that screams out 55 wins either. We just simply need basketball players. I wouldn't mind getting both Dragic and Gasol, two players who can dribble, pass, shoot and play D.

Re: Knicks Vs. Magic PG Discomfiture
Watching the games again, our offense needs shooting bigs. Acy and Dally can't play for that long and not shoot. I think ideally there are 4 bigs who can shot the close/midrange shot(two starters and two backups).
JR and Timmy over shot but idk how to fix that. Who else would be taking those shots.
Jason played well IMO. He missed two big shots down the stretch but nothing horrible.
