The only comparison that may be semi close is WCS to Anderson/Dalembert but the rest is just laughable.

Bottom line is we're getting Russel or Mudiay and both are top flight guards, so we're in a beautiful position with either one and our cap space to grab a star Center(mandatory) and a stretch 4, or wing if Melo should slide to PF. Shved can play SG, if need be.

Dump Calderon or use stretch and sure up our bench with remaining space.

Wonderful position no matter what. Imagine what it must feel like to be a Newark Nets fan right now....

Statistics and probability don't really work this way. You don't just put sht off to the side because it's a low chance of happening.

It is very ironic that you are trying to argue how statistics and probability work so you can take shots on our place in the lottery

I'm not taking a shot at our place in the lottery. I'm taking a shot at our incompetence in not securing the best possible position for the franchise. If we had the worst record, and gotten 4th pick, then well there's nothing you can do about that. But it just so happens the worst record this year got the #1 pick, and it's a spot we had in our grasps. I can care less about 2, 3, 4, 5, etc, or wherever the Lakers and Sixers ended up. #1 was there for the taking.

It's not all bad because we can sign a superstar big(KAT or OK4 may not pan out as superstars), but we actually need a superstar guard(star guards usually pan out and develop fast) and none are available in free agency.

Fallacy of the pre-determined outcome.

You can't argue that Knicks would have gotten that bounce had they had the most lotto balls. Everything changes from the point forward. They COULD have, but the lottery would have went differently.

Fixating on the fact the Knicks didn't shut-down their undrafred D-leaguer and somehow didn't anticipating a couple good games from a player who played terrible for them all year and helped them lost a majority of their games is a path to nowhere.

Winslow is awesome btw, but Mudiay >

Agreed.

It's very simple. During the last 15 years we've been the worst team in the league. Also during the last 15 years, we have also had the fewest top 5 picks of any team in the league. Therefore, to stop being the worst team in the league, we should discontinue the trend of never picking in the top 5.

Draft comparisons never meant to be 100% accurate just an estimation.

Towns does possess Divac offensive fundamentals, range and Boguts defense but Towns will be his own NBA player.

Russell is a SG with good passing skills. Brandon Roy makes sense a bit even tho Roy was bigger and stronger. Didn't Roy get to the free throw line more?

Mudiay isn't John Wall. They're both pass first PGs, but Mudiay is a Lion where as John Wall is a cheetah. Mudiay reminds me of an old Jason Kidd mixed with Marbury. Post game, defense, rebounds, full court passes, penetration... Mudiay def got game.

Porzingis produces exactly like Bargnani. They look and play different but get the same results. Same Euroleague production however that doesn't guarantee theyll be that same in the NBA.

Okafor looks like AL Jefferson without the jumper but he's only 19. He has a lot of room to grow, just have to grind it out at the gym and grow a paid and play with a motor. He'll be successful.

Winslow reminds me of Spreewell able to guard 3 positions, very good penetration passer like Harden and canhit the tre.

Orlando might have no need for Mudiay but they might really really want Winslow or Porzingis. You can call up orlando and say Denver or Sacremento is about to make a trade with us for #4 for so and so. Orlando could get worried that there guy could get scooped up and force them to call us and offer to take Calderon $$$ off the books to swap #4 for #5 to guarantee they get there guy.

It would save the knicks 7.5 million in cap space and give them nearly 35 million to spend in FA and still come away with there guy at #5.

Good. I'll take WCS with the fifth pick. NOW we have a rim protector. Great start in building a winner. :o
Tanking again, I suppose. Is there any other way?

Wouldn't mind WCS is if the reports are true that he's hitting the J with consistency. WCS with some sort of offensive game is worthy of a top 5 pick.

With that said, i still want Mudiay!

Get a bunch of names and put them on a board, put on a blind fold, then randomly point to each. That'll be about the same. Don't tell me, you write for nbadraft.net? You do their player comparisons? Which one are you so worked up about me ridiculing? The silly Winslow to James Harden comparison? What? Take any random guy on this board, ask them to put together a comparison and chances are it'll be at least as good.

The skills that WCS and Winslow offer can be found in trades in FA.

But good luck finding an a guard who can get to the rim at will like Mudiay. It's too valuable of a skillset, and by the time these guys enter UFA, they've already lost a step. If Phil acknowledges that this is an essential skillset for a team to have in today's NBA, he's gotta go with Mudiay.
