I honestly don't get why he was rated so low though. Just going by his skillset and production in college, he should have been seen as a late first round talent, not a mid 2nd
At least, let's hope he pans out better than RJ Hampton, cause if RJ hits his potential, trading back and missing him by one pick is gonna be pretty brutal.
Another draft the Nugs scoop up some super talented star potential player that drops to them...
I have a feeling that the Knicks didn't really have him on their radar anyway, they were going KY at that pick whether it was Maxey or Quickley.... I guess we'll see how that plays out, it could look like a misjudgment in time.

If we nailed both picks this year...that would be huge. IQ/RJ/Obi/Mitch with maybe Frank proving his worth as a 3&D keeper? Would give us something to look forward to. Maybe we end up with a high pick and land another stud. Thibs gets them winning...things get all rainbows and unicorns and we all live happily ever after!
The end.
The end.

Let's all pray that this kid becomes the steal of the draft and his shooting translates, and we find out he actually got a solid handle and ability to set teammates up. Cause really thats all Knicks fans are asking for. One guard on this team that shoots over 37%. If he could run some semblance of an offense he could probably take the PG position right now.

If his shooting translates he could be useful right away. But he needs to show more point guard instincts than what Trier showed last year.

I think they wanted both...Knicks FO tunnelled hard on their picks, I feel. I wonder if they would have taken Maxey at 8 if Obi was gone.

Is balanced but we know that won’t happen. That’s the only lineup I’d be okay with Payton
I don’t want to see

Seems like he has a good head on his shoulders too. Hope he can carve out some consistent PT this season.

Anyone else think IQ could be a Tony Douglas type of contributor? Obviously the shooting is far better than tony, but given his length and defensive potential partnered with his size and combo guard like style, I believe it’s a great comparison.

There are a lot of parallels to this year’s draft and the 2009 draft. Let’s just hope that the picks turn out better too.

Hey he might not even turn out as good as Toney Douglas. For most of these guys you never really know. I would be disappointed though because he definitely has a much higher pedigree than Douglas.

It sounds like what people wanted out of drafting guys like Halliburton or Hayes, but none of them shoot like this kid. I consider Billups one of the best players a young guard can emulate so I hope you're right.
Hayes and Hali are the types that get 10apg and IQ seems more like a 5apg guy but IQ is the guy who gets hot from 3ball and drains like 6-8 in a game.
The things I need to see is if IQ can break down a defense, get in the lane and dish or finish it in the half court.
If he can do that then while being a pest on ball defender he'll be something the Knicks haven't had in a very long time.

If they got two of the better players in the draft then the hyper focus was helpful but if they missed on better players then it was not in their best interest. I have my concerns about it but time will tell.

Well, Billups took until the second half of his 20s to figure it out. If Quickley is the next Billups, he'll be winning finals MVPs and making all-star teams for someone else.
My father actually randomly saw Billups in a pre-draft workout with some other prospects at a gym in Stamford, CT. He had no idea who Billups was, but he came home and asked me if I had heard of a guard from Colorado who was going to be in the draft, because Billups was by far the best player in the workout and my father overheard someone say he was from Colorado.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.
