Ugly game today and I wonder if this is Peterson's last start as a Met.

Scherzer is going to be an injury risk all season, but it was nice to see him have a good game yesterday.
Carasco, who's quite inconsistent and sometimes downright bad the last few years, should be back this week and he pitched well in AA recently.
And Verlander is back . . . AND, they scored 8 runs yesterday, so there's some reason to be optimistic.

Assuming today is a loss, they've gone 6-15 over their last 21 games. Bats need to wake up, but with luck, the starting pitching should improve.

This was the easiest part of there schedule too...June is brutal. This season is pretty much over already. No saving them at this point. I just wonder who Cohen is going to blame.

I don't think it's over if they start hitting, and with the pitchers returning but . . . time will tell.

I think we need to pick things up over the 2-4 weeks. If we’re still floundering and the old starting pitchers are either injured and/or pitching poorly (Scherzer, Verlander, Quintana, and Carrasco), then we should begin to think about cutting ties with the following players:

Scherzer
Carrasco
Quintana
Peterson
Reyes
Escobar
Marte
Canha
Pham
Nido
Vogelbach
Robertson
Ottovino
Etc.

Time to bring up Vientos and Mauricio and go with young talent.

Also - and I know that my take will set the internet on fire - but I’m tired of Lindor. Yes, he’s excellent defensively but he just hasn’t hit up to his contract. So I would be open to seeing what we could get for him.

I don't know what else you are waiting to see...the pitching is old and doesn't give them length. They don't hit for any power. Zero HRs in a 4 game series vs the Nats, is that serious?

This is the stretch they were suppose to build up the wins vs last place teams and there record is atrocious.

Do you see them all of a sudden beating up on the rays?

Initially, I wanted to blame Eppler for the pitching rotation mess. Someone on another board was explaining what else Eppler could have done. I realize the blame belongs to past administration for having very little farm depth.

At the time, we had 5 promising young starters all under rookie contracts/arbitration. Harvey, DeGrom, Syndergard, Wheeler and Matz. Since then how many Starting Pitchers have we developed? We had 6 years of control on each one of them and zero SPs had gone up to the majors and been a consistent part of the rotation. That's just sad.

If you look at the starting pitching for the last 20 games and compare it to the projected starters for the next 20 games, you'll see a big difference. Verlander & Carrasco returning, Scherzer back from suspension. So, that's something.

But I did say the bats have to wake up, so, I wasn't ignoring the lack of hitting.

Mark Vientos is ready. Ryan Finklestein crunches all the numbers.

as I said this team blows...there pitching is old and over the hill and they aren't haven't the same babip luck they did last year, that a team without power needs.

They did just call up Vientos but he won't be a savior....but it will be nice to root for the young guys development while we continue to lose.

Great comeback win. Hope this sparks a nice run to get us comfortably over .500

That's what happens when you get good starting pitching and timely hitting. Senga pitched lights-out tonight.

the young kids brought some life into this team...I wont call it a signature win unless they string a little win streak together...but trust the young kids

and Senga was great tonight.

I assume they'll want to play the lefty bats, so more often than not, Baty 3rd base (unless he plays OF), Vogel - DH.

Vientos will likely get starts against lefty pitchers, 3rd or DH and Escobar is still in the mix as a switch hitter. Bad start, but Escobar is 9 for his last 22, so he'll get some playing time. They'll probably mix it up a bit too.

I don't know how Baty looks in the OF, but Vientos is supposed to be pretty rough at 3rd, so they're sacrificing some fielding. Still, 2 wins is a start.

Not much and almost nothing in AAA.

Hamel & Vasil in AA, but I don't think we'll see either guy soon. Maybe not till next year.

Tidwell is their top pitching prospect in A+ but he's young and struggling some so far.

Ziegler is recovering from Surgery (bone spurs) and might pitch this year, perhaps A+. Matt Allan had Tommy John surgery and isn't expected to pitch this year. He's missed a ton of time.

So . . . not much. I wonder if they'll draft a lot of pitchers this draft.
