This is the realest. I'm a middle aged father of four and have had to go completely dark the past few days (no TV, no forum, no twitter) because I STILL get too wrapped up in this isht.

My daughter has been watching this playoff run with me and I'm scared what life Im introducing her too. Cause being a knicks fan isn't normally fun like this.

My favorite thing about my kids watching the games is that they root hard for the Knicks, but carry nothing away from the game once it's over. A bad loss and they just walk away and find the next thing to make them happy.

We can learn from them!

I'm ruined. Last game had me all kinds of upset after it.

My daughter on the othet hand was cheering until the end of the last game while we were down 30. Walked away smiling and was excited about the next game. What's fun about watching with her is she keeps me a lil more grounded than I would be if she wasn't around. Can't have her realizing I'm a complete lunatic.

Prior to the game, I posted in the GT that (1) Brunson, Hart, and Donte (or another player) had to score 80 points, and (2) that Brunson had to out score Haliburton.

Check and check.

Brunson, Hart and McBride scored 79 points.

We won 9 playoff games total (1 playoff series win) in the nearly 20 year span from 2000-2001 to 2019-2020

Obviously a big win, but still not happy with Brunson playing hero ball at the end of games. Just not efficient and if we get by the Pacers, Boston will most likely kill us down the final stretch of games. Need more ball movement IMO.

Burks has been a revelation. He was one of the worst players in the regular season for us, but he somehow figured it out.

Today, he didn't force the action at all and waited for opportunities to shoot the three or attack closeouts and he hustled like crazy on defense. Used his length to disrupt TJ and others. Grimes trade working out? Somehow? lololol wow

here's the non-trolling real analysis:


in the first half,


thibs unlocked several important concepts


1/ he now recognizes that this is about offense and not defense. pacers struggle in half court and to get them in half court you have to hit shots.

he threw away precious-ihart until the second half when we were up big.

he played precious at 5 when they went obi at 5

he played burks with brunson and stuck burks in the wing and corner 3


2/ defensively we recognize that josh hart cant defend pascal in the paint. several times during the game we early crossmatched ihart onto pascal.

I dont know if thibs will go one step further, but the Hali-turner pnr has given us problems and thibs is really going to think about crossmatching even more:

this makes a lot of sense because we've been switching that pnr a lot anyway.

3/ McBride is not a pg

in the 1 game that McBride exploded against Philly he played offball c+s3.
his best game against pacers was again, offball c+s 3.

thibs already knows this because several times this series he has subbed in brunson early when we detected even a hint of McBride struggling to bring the ball up, which has happened.

4/ ind ball pressure vs brunson in backcourt
I really wished we did this sooner, this should've already been happening in the Philly series. but we have committed to pre-empting any full court pressure on brunson by keeping him off ball if there is even a hint of indiana looking to pressure him in the backcourt. its inbounded to anyone but brunson when indiana shows pressure. this adjustment is late, but very welcome.
