He better start playing at least 70 games a year or....or....I'll start complaining on here. More than usual!

But this is what you gotta do. In our situation, it's worth it cause we can't afford to lose him
I'm stoked right now, Bridges/OG is the best wing defender duo in the league. You need 2 great wing defenders to match up with Brown/Tatum, and we got that now
We're a damn good team.

It’s hard to detox from tanking. Lots of withdrawal symptoms. I’m starting tankaholics anonymous to help these people through these difficult times. As we win 50 games a year for the next decade each of these 500+ wins will may feel like like nails on a chalkboard as year after year in the meaningless draft we end up with nothing or pacome daddies

HopelessKnick wrote:OG supposedly had multiple max offers on the table....probably from teams like Philly etc. If those rumors are true then then giving him those 42.5mill. is not only a no-brainer, but you also have to give OG credit for remaining a knick. This is a guy with tremendous winning impact on the court that could have cashed in close to 50mill. a year but agreed to 42mill. a year. This may not seem a big difference to some, but it is a vast difference IMO.
So again props to our FO to making him stay here and props to OG for sacrificing a 7mill. a year difference to remain here! I personally appreciate it a lot and hope he continues to succeed here.

I was watching Gils area and Gil, Brandon, and I think Nick would have all taken the money. They believe that Brunson should
wait and take the $314 million instead of signing for a discount...Let me get the video..
So I agree with you we shouldnt take it for granted.

I know I shouldn't say this but if I was in Brunson's shoes I would wait till next summer. The difference between the contracts is way too big to do that "team friendly" thing. Especially considering the fact that his current contract is probably the league's biggest bargain. In all likelihood he will be eligible for 5years/315mill. Maybe they can talk him into 5years/250mill. but that would be the biggest discount I could imagine.
Anyways, these are all good problems to have IMO.

If I was in his shoes(its all about choice;wont judge anyone for that) IF taking less money was part of a plan where the rest of the guys agreed and we all did it to stay together for as long as we could and have shots at winning chips- then I would do it.
Trust me when I tell you- the difference in levels of money is you can just buy "more things". MJ is a multi-Billioniare but all everyone talks about are those 6 chips. Mike Tyson at this point probably made a Billion dollars but all that is talked about(mostly) is when he dominated boxing and he was the champ. Nothing replaces the hardware. Shaq always teases Barley about how he doesnt have a ring...I know that burns Barley's soul...I could go on and on...
So for me- if everyone is on board and we do it together- then I would take less...Besides... in these times could you imagine
how legendary a team would be in their city if they took less and all of the fans knew about it(social media) and we win 1 or 2 chips?!

I get that. But I hate saying this because I love OG and he's the reason I'm here - how can you expect Brunson and others to take team friendly contracts when OG went for the big money. I hope none of this leads to resentment and discord.
I wish they'd get OG on their podcast and talk it out.
five-year max, worth $245.3 million
