Explains why he isn’t signed. Guess he tried to give it a go and is still too hurt? He’s been injured a while too.

Probably, we don't know if we give him a standard contract or a 2-way deal. We need 14 standard contracts to begin the season (max is 15). We already have 12 players in standard contracts and Ariel in a 2-way deal.

Gotta assume precious will be spot 13. Or whatever they do for a back up big. Maybe Rokas becomes that 14th contract? There’s still the tax player MLE too.

I do not think they abandon Precious.

This feels different than SL excitement over a good performance. He's just got that veteran's polish and poise that transcends single performances. It's the difference between finding a guy who not only knows how to play the game, but has the ability to execute versus getting hyped over "talent". I said it earlier, I'll take a brainiac PG over an athletic freak every damn time.

Hornets fan here, Kolek is him. Rest of your team didn’t seem to be up to much. Kolek scared me all game.

My 2 cents…

Kolek looked pretty damn impressive with his court vision and feel. With an actual real team he’d have had a field day. Defensively yeah he’s going to struggle but not for not trying. He’s basically Brunson on defense.

I actually thought Dadier looked good. Even with those air balls lol. He is raw and he looked like what you’d expect a guy that raw to look but he moved well, defended and spaced well.

Roku was a lot more athletic than I thought he’d be. He also was built a lot more muscular than I expected. Looked like an NFL safety. Seemed like he was trying to get a feel for his role and there were some odd overlap when both he and Kolek was on the floor but he definitely seem to be an NBA caliber player.

So yeah it’s going to be interesting to see how both he and Kolek can fit on this roster especially given how many players the Knicks already have in the backcourt.

Jacob Toppin was also pretty impressive to me. Hes a lot more agile than Obi. While Obi always seemed to be a bit stiff legged and lacked lateral movement. Jacob had much better lateral movement and was more aggressive overall. Also better feel for the game. I can see why the Knicks like him. Not sure if he’ll get an opportunity with the Knicks but I can see him getting some playing time on many other teams in the NBaS

Skapentsev looked better than Hukporti at the 5.

Baugh also looked pretty solid.

Duane Washington lost this game for the Knicks by trying to be Kobe Bryant.

Kolek looks legit as a PG. Dude was in control the whole game

Thought Dadiet's defense was much better than advertised. Still pretty raw, he got beat a couple times on pump fakes, but he has the tools. And his playmaking was intriguing too, I know he only had 2 assists, but he was making some nice passes. Shot was off though, some of them were yikes. But he's a raw 18-year-old, and at the very least, we have a good team so he can take his time to develop, or be trade bait in a couple years.

VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

Kolek's style of play is to lead the team - he had the other players looking for him to set up, in freaking summer league, for example.

Dadiet is very young and raw, but if we have room to keep him for a few years, he might turn out of be a rotation wing. His instincts are good, his defense shows he's trying to cover his man (far better than other rookies I've seen) and it's likely his jumper will come back as he adapts.

I'll be disappointed if Rokas doesn't show more poise and shooting ability after having played pro ball a few years. He gets a pass for the first game, to give him a chance to get his legs back under himself. But I wouldn't give him infinite time to show himself, as we have too much other talent in need of a roster spot.

Kolek will be a welcome addition to this roster, I think he will have to improve defensively in order for Thibs to trust him, but as a floor general he has that it factor. I'm interested to see his development

Was he the cause of that mysterious brown stain on the floor noticed after the game?

Kolek +9 in 29 minutes in a 4 point loss. Only Knicks player who was positive for the game.
Just because it happened to you, doesn't make it interesting.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Yesterday I was lying; today I'm telling the truth.

Totally baseless number selection speculation

Kolek took 13 because it's a nice number and Nash, he has alot Nashiness to his game so probably thought it fit him.

Pac Dadi took 35 because he probably watched a bunch of Durant and now there will be more big wings coming up that will take the number 35.

Huk took 55 because he learned how much love the recent outgoing player who donned that number got so is hoping some of that positive mojo will rub off on him...it's a German thing, too.

Again...just baseless speculation.

We usually don’t agree but we do here. Maybe it’s his age but he’s very smooth in his decision making. Summer league success is hit or miss, but I don’t recall the last good to great player who completely tanked it there. Success in the summer league is never a bad thing.

Only player who looked NBA ready to me. Other than his size, he looks like the real deal. His defense needs work but, he showed up and impressed me. Dadiet looks promising on defense but, he's gonna take time IMO. He is 18-19 so, yeah. Hukporti looked ok. So did Skapinstev. Rokas didn't impress me at all. He has a pull up though.

Overall it looked like a slopfest of players who were trying to figure out how to fit together. As expected. Only Kolek looked good enough right now. I get why they gave him that contract. Hopefully it works out.
