Something I wish Thibs would do that coaches don't seem to do anymore is get kicked out of games where the refs are messing with us and we're buckling. The stretch where I started watching in the early 4th... there were about 4 straight plays where we were fouled and the Hawks were pulling ahead. Perfect time to throw a tantrum and get kicked out. We were pretty much beat at that point but having Coach go to bat for you can change the energy.

For the Hawks, the only real scorer starters were Young and JoHnson and they were 8-22 and 8-20. Diff was Deandre Hunter chipping in 24 off the bench. And they out-rebounded us. That's really one of the big differences this year - last year we almost always crushed teams on rebounding.

It's also an issue that he never matches up, like Deuce was clearly too small to guard Hunter, but since he doesn't trust the bench at all we can't even go with more size because Pacome isn't trusted and Ryan sucks. Like you cannot run a 3 guard lineup against teams that have multiple 6'8" guys on the floor.

This "whoadafuk" got 8 minutes against us, whether he's good or not he has size at 6'8"

Moving Mikal and hart to the bench would help with scoring off the bench,
And precious and deuce to the starting lineup would help with defense in the starting 5

One of my biggest concerns about this team in the postseason is running into a high level perimeter defender with length to slow down Brunson. I don't think we have really seen him against a defender as good as Daniels in the postseason since he has arrived in New York.

daniels is a nice player defensively and all but if our veteran star can’t cook a young hoe…

I just don't expect a 6'1-6'2 guard with limited athleticism to win every one on one matchup no matter how talented he is. It would be nice if we had an offense to generate easier looks without Brunson having to constantly create for himself and others.

last thing I'm going to say. I'm pissed about this game but it took the refs and us having one of our worst shooting nights from 3 and the ft line for them to win. this is a Hawks team that just beat the Cavs by an average of 12 pts in back to back games, beat the Bucks by like 15, and knocked the Celtics out of the cup race.

I believe with some coaching adjustments, we win despite what went bad tonight. Anyway, on to the next. Learn from this.

That's the sequence I'm thinking of. It was followed by Brunson? getting clubbed on the arm simply bringing the ball up. I think he could have changed the energy in that sequence and the Knicks would have balled out. You've got to try it because we were frustrated and rattled by the non-calls.

HerSports85 wrote:Have our recent trades upgraded our talent level, of course. But we didn't replace a critical piece - a playmaking, rim protecting, rebounding machine center. The problem definitely isn't the Towns/Randle trade. Towns is clearly the better player. The Mikal trade was somewhat of an issue because of all the picks we gave up. BUT regardless, rather we did those trades or not, we still lost a huge piece and didn't add a player that can give us the level of production Ihart did. That's the issue, it's not complicated.

When you think about it, we can actually blame Embiid for hurting Mitch. That **** piece of ****.

we traded 5 1st round picks for Mikal Bridges. ATL is forced due to cross matching Dyson on Brunson to put arguably the worst defensive player in the NBA on Mikal and we don't spam MIkal actions all night?

And people have the audacity to tell me thibs doesn't have flaws?

Brunson’s issues isn’t about getting double teamed. It’s about knowing when to score and how to get his team involved. Randle was the De facto PG the past 2 years with Brunson and Brunson was basically focused on scoring. Brunson is still a great player but he clearly is in his head cause he’s struggling to find that balance and has to pick up on that playmaking void left by Randle.
