Idk how to feel about Ben at the garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just gotta have faith in MB I guess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I'm not in love with Ben...but he would have a really small role and if we were healthy last year but if we lost a wing for any bit of time Simmons could fill in a little.

Also you have the ability to put him in at the end of games to go small and switch everything if you wanted to as well. It would certainly give us options if he was willing to buy into the role as a defensive wing.

I think the idea is he’d play Point Guard on offense and Center on defense:

Yabu
Hart
Simmons
Deuce
Clarkson

As I wrote last week, IMO the juice isn’t worth the squeeze even at the vet min because of what a total tool bag he is as a human being vs how cohesive the chemistry is on this potential championship team. Specifically, I’d be worried about his effect on Mitch, who seems to have a very malleable personality.

But wtf do I know. I once predicted Bobby Bonilla would never win a World Series for similar reasons and I was wrong. Maybe we can win a ‘chip with Ben f*cking Simmons on the roster?

Seems like everything we have read points to Ariel getting minutes. That lineup seems small and weak.

Clarkson and Simmons it SEEMS are being targeted for SPECIFIC roles in the system.

Simmons likely would be focused on being an ameoba defender and even occasional paint protector. As well as an additional ballhandler to take pressure of off Brunson. Simmons will not be counted on to take 15-20 shots in a game. Just play his role.

6'10 guard 1-5. Perimeter D, interior D. Ball handle occasionally. Be a passer. Its a dynamic that would be very beneficial to this team.

Is Simmons even a jumbo playmaker anymore? Feels like he’s more of a connector at this point and not someone that creates shots. Saw someone call him the logo recently cuz as soon as he crosses mid court, he gives up the ball. You’re not gonna be able to play with hart or Mitch. Just seems like a wasted roster spot. If I’m looking for a 13th man I’d rather someone that can shoot.

Right now your top 2 stars are KAT and Brunson. They need to be complemented in certain ways to maximize the teams potential.

Brunson gets beat up in the playoffs up and down the court. Having both Clarkson and Ben as ballhandlers helps there. Does the match up call for more defenders out there? Pair Simmons with Brunson .

Does the match up or situation call for more offense? Put Clarkson out there.Clarkson and Simmons are not going to be more than 15-20 minute players

KAT, Brun OG and Bridges will all get over 30. In Browns offense I think Hart may go down to about 25.

I mean, Thibs just played 82 games with Hart at PF. I’m trying to figure out the interest in Ben and all signs point to the versatile fit with our 2nd unit. Weak, sure. But they’d run the other team out of the gym.

What would the Warriors give up for KAT?
Obviously have to make contracts match up, but in addition to that...Kuminga, Moody, would we be willing to take Green?

This is the main issue against Simmons, that another non shooter can't play with Hart and Mitch.

I see a mix of Hart and iHart in Simmons as a playmaker. Like Hart he can grab a rebound and push the pace to create easier looks before the defense gets set. In the half court he can use size, vision and passing capabilities to create opportunities for his teammates as a passing hub like iHart.

I'm actually more concerned with his ability to defend at a high level because I loved what iHart brought to the team on both ends of the court despite his limited scoring most of the time here. If Ben can defend and pass I feel like he would be a good fit. Hart played a ton of minutes with iHart and it wasn't the end of the world.

The fit between Mitch and Simmons is more of an issue imo as 2 non shooters outside of 5 feet but worrying the fit of 2 guys that didn't even play 82 games total last year seems pointless. Neither of them played back to backs which accounted for 30 of the Knicks' games last year. If they were on the same team last year they might have been healthy at the same time for less than 10 games. Mitch has been injured almost every regular season and 2 out of 4 post-seasons.

I feel like Hart is a 25-30 mpg player at this point. Ben might be a 15-25 mpg player when healthy. Mitch has gone from 72 to 59 to 31 to 17 games played over the last 4 regular seasons. I don't think there would be nearly as much overlap as some people think.

You’re really overestimating how much the 13th man and last vet minimum contract is going to play. The likeliness of them being in the rotation on opening night is probably pretty slim. I’d rather give Dadiet a shot over whomever gets this roster spots.

I’m also not convinced that Simmons be able to offer that much ball handling help. A lot of his assists with the clippers came from making the extra pass and being the screener in DHO actions. I guess he’d still be able to find shooters on the break but if he’s not gonna even try to score defenders that will probably come less successful over time. He ended up falling out of the rotation in the playoffs anyways.

I think Simmons is actually a better Josh Hart at almost everything except shooting the 3, which is pretty important to be fair. But thats the main problem, their games are basically the same thing.

Both want to drive and kick, with Hart more willing to finish and get contact while Simmons is the better playmaker. Neither want to shoot 3s, though Josh is more willing and better at it. So both of them in the bench unit would be bad, you'd just be better of playing yabusele over hart/simmons. It could work if Josh is gonna shoot like 5 3s a game but I doubt that happening and wonder whether or not that would even be a good thing.
