it is a better pairing. but to be fair, you would probably have to make an additional trade or two to make the roster work perfectly and that could take a little time. but the roster right now doesn't work great either which is why mitch has to start.

Its a better pairing defensively for sure. I don't know if its a better pairing offensively. When Brunson has the ball Giannis really doesn't stretch the floor. It would be better in terms of using Brunson more off ball.

But like you said we would have to really change the dynamic of the team. Because if Giannis isn't going to play center you would need to find a center that can shoot which is hard to find. So you would have to change the entire composition of the roster.

I don't think anyone would say no to KAT for Giannis straight up...but we know that isn't happening. The real question is what else would the knicks have to give up the make MIL happy that also doesn't gut our roster because we aren't talking a 1 for 1 trade here...so we are losing in other areas and that is where it gets dicey.

did kat and brunson play well off each other last year at all ? it was basically just my turn, your turn. we started playing them less and less together because kat was kind of forgotten when jalen was on the floor. so if we're going to do that, give me the guy who can average 30 in his sleep even when there's nobody else of consequence on the roster with him.

I happen to agree...I think we just differ on why.

Our offense was humming early last season (we were up there with one of the most efficient offenses in basketball history). A lot of that changed when teams started putting there center on Josh Hart. Then I am of the belief that Thibs did the roster no favors. in terms of getting the team to play uptempo and less predictable.

I really don't see how the Knicks are able to make this type of trade considering the remaining assets unless he forces his way to only them and the Bucks take just what they have to offer. Seems unlikely if you ask me because if he opens up to a short list of teams they will find a better deal elsewhere. Could he still wind up in NY even with the challenging logistics of it all? Sure, we know how Rose has not been averse to taking risks.

Thibs definitely limited offense by slowly bringing the ball up, that was one of his main philosophies to slow the game down and make the defensive metrics looks good because of less possessions overall. Even did it with Randle leading the offense before Brunson came along. It will be interesting to see how Brown can get more out of the offense with a better offensive pace and if it can be sustained throughout the season or into the playoffs.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Would Milwaukee include Turner? That would change things for sure if we can get Giannis and Turner

But keep OG because he’s awesome and better than Mikal

Nah. This is between Giannis and Milwaukee. Enjoy the contending season

Ive come to accept we will never know peace.as knicks fans. There is always some bullcht brewing.

Ill loosely follow this, but honestly idc. its a good "prroblem" that one of the best player in the league wants to come here.

Regardless if we land him we will have a top team in the league so we should have a fun exciting year.

I agree, lightly keep this story on our radar and enjoy the season at hand. At minimum its nice to be a destination one of the best players in the NBA wants to come too...that alone is much different than years past.

Elephant in the room is if we didn’t do the Mikal deal aka Leon’s folly we’d have traded the 5 firsts for him and we’d have Brunson Towns Giannis (all 3 were all star starters last year) and which would be the best big 3 in nba history probably better than LeBron Wade and Bosh. Everyone remember to say thanks a lot Leon.

Bingo. We're respected now. There will come a time when we have the pieces to get a deal like this done and we'll be a top destination going forward when it happens.

Well now Im inconsolable. Mikal stays ruining everything. Destroyed our chance at a dynasty for a broken jumper and a guy who is afraid of a layup. :D

and how exactly are you matching the 54MM GIannis salary since we are an over the cap team?

You still would need to send out 54MM in contract to make a trade work.

That is assuming MIL wants to deal him this offseason which they clearly dont (and already 2 of the 5 1st round picks have conveyed already as late 1sts).

Without Mikal on the roster I guess it could be OG + Hart or Mitch + filler + and some of the picks available between 2026 and 2032 but I would hate that big 3 especially on a team with a limited depth of talent. I'm not sure any of Brunson/KAT/Giannis make sense as a 3rd option and definitely don't think they are worth a max contract in that role.

KAT would be a highly paid floor spacer with highly questionable defense as a 3rd option. Brunson as a 3rd option is basically a 6th man in that role since he doesn't defend and he is not a natural distributor. Giannis provides more on the defensive end of the court but I don't know what Giannis does offensively without the ball in his hands as often. He would have to commit to setting screens more often while praying that Brunson finally learns how to run a 2-man game.

Basically I think we could get to the same spot right now if we truly wanted (moving MIkal and OG to 3rd teams for draft picks)

But would people really want Brunson/Giannis/KAT and zero depth? Trading both our wings seems foolish.
