the reality is that he's probably going to get around 3-4M a year. Let him chase that.

I'll take him if we fill in our big free agents first. I want some big men.

The thing about Lin is that he's shown he can thrive in here, and he'll be a good soldier and commit to a system, no matter how stupid it is (shout out to Byron Scott). If we tell him to come off the bench, he will, and he won't say a word.

If the idea is to make a trade for Lin, wasn't the contract designed to hit New York especially hard due to its structure? Of course, it now would result in a contract valued in trade at $30 Million for the final year of Jeremy Lin''s contract.

EDIT: FORGOT THAT LIN IS AN UFA. ALL OF OUR EXISTING PGS ARE BETTER THAN JEREMY,

Depending on the roster shakeup.. (is Calderon back, do we sign a guard, who do we draft?) i would consider Jeremy Lin with small midlevel (3mil a year). He can be a perfect 6th man in the triangle. smart, can drive and shoot

I'd honestly be a little worried that just having him here would affect the team mentally. Fans would go nuts if he sat on the bench and I think Dolan would eventually cave and make Fish trot him out more than he should.

smart enough to run the triangle well. If end up drafting a big and signing a PF/C and a lower tier SG, it wouldnt be a bad move to bring back Lin. Would be better to have depth than fully count on galloway to run a team for a full year.

someone will get upset but jeremy is not coming back simply because he's not good on defense. he never was.

j4remi wrote:Honestly, for the vets min I wouldn't mind bringing him back at all. He'd be cheaper than Shved's cap hold then right? But the reality is that we have Galloway, Thannasis likely coming up, THJ and Calderon on the books so until we lock in a big or two; I'm probably holding out on chasing a PG/SG piece. Secure the definite needs and then worry about someone like Lin who could definitely help but at least we have his position covered somewhat.

Edit: P.S. we have the free agency and trade idea thread, I'm gonna let this float for a bit and then move it there.

Highly doubtful that they will extend Shved a qualifying offer so cap holds aren't an issue. Shved will probably be cheaper and is better than Lin IMO.

Last I checked, when Jeremy Lin was a Knick, the franchise was progressing towards being a better product on the court. After one season, every one thought the Knicks were better off without Lin. Then the Knicks spiraled into the situation you see before you.

José Calderón *WHIFF*

Shane Larkin *WHIFF*

Langston Galloway and Alexey Shved did prevent the Knicks from having the worst record in the NBA by one game.

I'll take an energetic Lin that feeds off the crowd over ANY of those CBA All-stars that haven't done anything to make me believe they are better players. I don't understand why people bother with youtube videos that show ONE play. That has no bearing in how a guard knows how to run the point within a system.

Lin is no more talented than a BJ Armstrong, John Paxson, or Steve Kerr. He has better or equal smarts to know how to work the triangle.

Having said that, I Challenged and WON that argument with KnicksGod, NO WAY Melo is going to allow Jeremy Lin to sniff MSG again after Linsanity overshadowed Melo's attention whore media village.

I would take Lin back at the right price. He could be a good change of pace guard for cheap.
