Honestly I think dealing Carmelo to Houston would be great for both sides

they'd be put in win now mode with a very good big 3 and we'd be able blow this up like everyone wants to

Who are we getting back? Lin and Asik? I honestly wouldn't mind a trade like Lin, Asik, Terrence Jones + 1st round pick. Also trading for Blake Griffin + 1st round pick is solid.

Lin, Asik, Jones, Motiejunas and 2 1sts is what it would take in my eyes

I dont wanna deal Melo but if this journey doesnt end where I expect then just try and start fresh

move JR, Felton, Tyson, Shumpert, Bargs, everyone

1) Shumpert + Bargnani for Dragic + Frye

2) Amare + Hardaway Jr + Udrih + Chris Spliff for Humphries + Bass + Lee + Bogans + Brooks

3) Felton + JR + Kenyon for Evans + Miller

PG: Dragic / Prigioni / Murry
SG: Lee / Evans / Brooks
SF: Melo / Bogans / Miller
PF: Artest / Bass / Frye
C: Tyson / Aldrich / Humphries

1) Saves Phoenix $333,740 this season, $183,025 next season and gets them a SG they were after for the last couple of seasons.

2) Saves Boston $5,692,152 this season, adds them $12,311,628 next season and saves them $5,675,000 in 2015. Overall, they spend $944,476 more, but they get a PG they don't have right now and a cheap rookie SG for 4 more seasons. Amare ensures them more lotto balls.

3) Saves New Orleans $2,498,753 this season, $1,489,348 next season, $384,523 in 2015 and $10,203,755 in 2016.

2015 outlook:

PG: Dragic
SG: Lee / Evans
SF:
PF:
C:

We would add $5,122,565 to our 2015 salary. If we move Lee who only has an extra year and should find some suitors if he plays well with Dragic again, we could save $552,435 compared to our current roster. That would mean $18,234,586 worth of salaries between Dragic and Evans. It would leave around $41,915,414 of capspace which is not enough for two max contracts, but still more than we are currently projected to have.

Any way we can get the Williams & Shved package from Minny?

I feel like Williams could fit in here nicely.

I would try for Rudy Gay at this point and hope he changes in the ways Monta Ellis has in Dallas. I know this would probably require a follow-up trade for a floor spreading SG and some other minor changes, but realistically it doesn't mess up the 2015 plan and if it does work, it could win us the division at least. If it doesn't work, we're in the same position we are in right now.

No more trading future first round picks, 5 years into the future no less, for close to 30 overpaid underachievers.

This should just be black letter law for the GM at this point.

At this point the goal should be get past 2016 without trading any draft picks and then blow it up and start from scratch.

Alright so I was bored and decided to mess around with the trade machine. I want to preface by saying that this would only occur later in the season but before the trade deadline if things continue to get worse and this team shows no signs of hope. Here's what I came up with:

Image

Trade makes sense for both teams if you think about it. Knicks start to rebuild around Monroe and get some young talent in KCP and Mitchell while also getting back two expirings. The front court of Smith, Monroe and Drummond was a poor fit from the start so getting a wing like Melo will allow Smith and Drummond to beast down low without Monroe clogging up the lane too.

Detroit probably wouldn't part with both KCP and Mitchell but I'm hoping they would lol. Obviously it's doubtful that this trade would happen but I wouldn't be opposed to something like this a bit down the road. Whether either team would entertain it is another story but we would certainly have a lot of young talent to build around. Then we'd have Stat, Bargnani and Chandler coming off the books after next season so we would be in really good shape if we could somehow be patient for a change. Thoughts?

? So basically Carmelo Anthony for Greg Monroe? Monroe isn't THAT good. And he's going to be a FA at the end of the season so that's a brand new 5 year contract for god knows how much coming for a guy that really isn't a featured player.

Only deal I consider moving Melo in at this point is to Golden State for Klay Thompson, Barnes and DLee. If we did that I'd look to move Lee to a 3rd team in the deal and pull the trigger on the Shump/Faried deal (if possible).

Would anyone consider a Shump for Schroeder+ deal with the Hawks? Cost controlled young point, often compared to Rondo. Might make for a nice piece to move to the C's who have their SG position already tied down by Bradley.

Even if it wasn't Shump for Schroeder, ATL may really have an interest in getting Horford the big he has been clamoring for in Chandler. NYK/ATL are definitely an interesting trade partner.
