I always thought this year was a tryout for next year

that's why bargnani is getting a final chance and why the options of both Larkin/shumpert weren't picked up

I bet jr smith is traded, and thj will be used as a sweetener

shumpert is playing his way to a contract extension. he's the only so far that's 100% bought in the triangle.

I think early will be a good role player. his decision making is shaky and his jump shot is average but the defense is there. his length bothers shooters.

JR and Timmy over shot but idk how to fix that. Who else would be taking those shots.
Jason played well IMO. He missed two big shots down the stretch but nothing horrible.

We don't need anymore shooting bigs. We need bigs who can go inside, score, and get free throws. All this team does is shoot long 2 point jumpers. I don't know if you've noticed, but the league has changed. The shots that every other team looks for is: 1) layup/dunk/shot at the rim, 2) 3 pointer, 3) free throw. The long 2 is not an efficient shot, especially when it's shot off the dribble or with a defender nearby, but it's pretty much the staple of our offense.

This.

I've noticed as this losing streak continues, Fish is starting to lose his cool. I think he's starting to second guess himself.

His rotations are all over the place. It's time he settled on a starting lineup and rotation, so a particular unit can grow together, you can't play every f*cking guy on the roster and by now he should know which units work.

He started the season, not playing Melo big minutes or relying on Melo the but the last few games it seems like his reliance on Melo has steadily increased. I think this a small sign desperation.

He is calling more timeouts and yelling at the refs more.

I think Fish is feeling a lot of pressure and the last two losses are probably more on him than anything.

I embrace it... Just wanna see some smart moves during the season!

Jason Smith signing was a dumb one... they need to reedem themselves with some smart moves!! Anthony Morrow deserved more that MMLE from us than the former. And I'd do a trade for him and Jackson. They would make 10M combined next season and with 33M for Melo, Shump, Acy, Cole and THJ on cap holds, we'd have 24M left for either LMA or Gasol (20M), our draft pick (2M) and the other 4 cap holds (2M)... plus the two expetions (MLE and BAE) and also two TPE from the last trades!

Definitely agree. I am disappointed somewhat in Jason Smith, I did think it was a good signing, we'll see as the games go on.

Phil may have to adjust his handling of Melo in terms of dropping weight.Seems to have lost the mismatch at a physicality standpoint against smaller three's and the triangle thrives on mismatches.

Missing Melo is a beast in the post. He has no history of knee problems so he should be able to carry the extra weight with no hassles.

Amare is still a bit funky close to the rim at this stage of the season.Another low post scorer could help with the roster containing enough jump shooting bigs, who are very inconsistent.

Will Melo grinding down low reduce the free throw descrepancy? LOL probably not.

Once again, I see Melo holding the ball and taking too many shots while his teammates become disinterested.

This is not the way the Knicks played the first 3 games. What happened?

This is where, me as a fan, expecting Melo to be more vocal and calling it like it is, get his teammates mad and see which one of them is the real man and step up.

I don't know if Melo has this in him but I think we need a vocal leader right now.

Yeah man.
And another thing, how hard would it have been for Fish, Melo, anybody to tell Jason to take one step in on those shots?
Every shot he took was just out of his range as they were all short....and roughly a foot away from where he had been canning those shots a few games ago.

95 points should be enough to win a game. Why so many dumb fouls ? Stay in front of your man and don't reach or over play. If he scores kudos to him. Watching those games it looks like we are playing against KD/MJ every given night. Let them brick some shots !

I'm just glad Fisher and Phil climbed on my tank before anyone else on this board.

It's a good observation. I can already see him being a Thibs kind of player for instance. Could be a nice 3D guy.

If he hit the shot you all would be saying something else.

The problem is that JR was not shooting the ball well down the stretch. He was ice cold and MELO was the one with the hot hand.. In that instance, as redundant as it is, you give the ball to MELO.

yeah, Early has shown signs of being a decent defender. I am surprised by that since I thought I heard it was a weakness. I am not sure if its just in comparison to everyone else on the team or if he's actually a good defender yet, but might as well give him some more run

In the end, after dust settles and the talk is behind us, Melo thinks the best system is for him to shoot the team to victory. There's not much we can do to change that I'm afraid.

Only way that changes is if he snaps into a strong system like Spurs.
