Would have loved to see how many of the guys here would have interviewed at 17-19 years old when most of those interviews people were making fun of and cringing about were recorded.

This kid is actually a pretty high IQ player from what he has shown instinctively, without much high level coaching and taking 14 months away from competitive games.

I love Mitchell and I already praised him the day we drafted him but there is no way I am calling the dude smart. Not in any lifetime.

However, he is smart on the basketball court from all evidence I've seen and that's all I care about. Dude could be Forrest Grump for all I care. As long as he knows how to play on the court and dominate effortlessly as he seems to be doing now then it's all good. The sky is the limit for Robinson.

What evidence has he shown you to make you feel so confident that he isn't smart?

Dude makes it look like he's dunking a tennis ball on little kids. It just doesn't even look remotely hard. He is an athletic specimen. Bless him. Keep him playing smart and healthy, that's all I ask.

He makes me think of Amare on offense and Camby on defense. The way he dunks the ball makes me think of young Stat. Damn the league is about to be in serious trouble.

If I may piggyback.... notice how he always seems to know where the rim is? May sound silly but some guys have to face the basket in order to dunk. A coupla times now I've seen MR go up (seemingly out of position) and I'm thinking what is he doing but b4 the thought even processes he's pivoted and dunked! I'm like how the f did he do that? To your point he makes it look easy. Rebounds, loose balls - he attacks. Quite frankly he's looked better than Ayton SO FAR....

this will be so controversial, if kanter opts in mitchell should be by his hip and learn all his post moves.

hate on kanter but his footwork is a thing of beauty, he's very good at creating space just with a single pivot.

Kanter already opted in

Nothing controversial about Kanter teaching Mitch. He's one of the best traffic rebounders in the league and great at boxing out. Mitch should pick his brains and watch tapes of Rodman.

A team that is looking to have a competitive series against the Warriors would want to trade for Mitchell.

He's ours for keeps though.

Saw Knox struggled a bit in this one. They defended him better and he forced some bad shots as well as struggled hitting some good open shots. He's gonna have some reg season games like that and the fans need to give him a break and be patient.

Yeah it's the one thing he does extremely well. Robinson naturally has excellent feet and hands so he could pick it up.

Yesterday Knox was better than KP, already the 1st option of the team, today he's maybe 4 years away to contribute, maybe even 5. At least Mitch today is the better versione of AD, i'll take it

mitch could use some post moves but he's not going to be going up against bigs in the post without a lot more strength just yet.

it's probably a better use of his time to focus on defensive technique and rotations, and offensively work on his range game. his greatest advantage right now is mobility and jumping.

EchelonNYK wrote:Something I see a lot of people not talking about is Mitchell's strength. He's looks rail thin, but he's far from a weakling at 223. I don't see him getting pushed around out there on the blocks. He holds his ground and gets to where he needs to go. If only KP had those genes.

I’m very happy to see Mitchell (Money Mitch?) is not gawky. He looks like he won’t be easily injured. I think we all worry about KP’s tendency to get injured. But Mitchell probably not in that boat.
I dunno.

Mitch can guard everyone. And bring back sad N8 to run around all over the place quickly grabbing the ball after Mitch smacks it away.
I dunno.

The motor on Mitch tho... guy plays so hard.

Not sure how so many teams missed on this gem. You would think with the resources that NBA teams have, they would know everything about this kid before the draft. It's not like there was much digging necessary. Good kid that got bad advice with very rare talent. You don't have to see the guy play college ball to notice that.

Teams really out here picking the likes of Landry Shamet, Jalen Brunson and Devonte Graham over this freak. I love it.

Yep. It's a big difference from how difficult Kanter makes dunking look lol

Yeah. The C’s actually played a little D, forcing him to rely on 10-14 ft jumpers 35-38 degree angles from the basket.

The kid will work that out.

Willy has been dominant in summer league.

he's a 3rd year player though. that don't count. if you've been in the league 2 years already and you're still in summer league, it's not a good sign.

Not really. This is his 1st full year in Charlotte and Heffe hardly played him here so his reps as a whole last year were down.

More 3rd year players need their asses in SL
