Until they do its tough to have much signs of hope. Even as is, Giants are in bad cap shape next year so not even a ton they can do.
yeah whoever takes over in the FO will have 2 years to rebuild this team because they will not be able to do anything this year or next with there cap situation.
They will have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds next year (including the bears 1st). So all is not lost if you get a good GM to come in an replace the disaster that has been Gettleman. But I don't trust Mara to hire the right guy because he is at the root cause of all that is wrong with the Giants...since he is so stuck in his old ways.
They have spent so much money on non key positions. They have so much equity tied up in the secondary and interior DL which is not how you win in todays NFL. The defense has been so disappointing this year.
I don't trust him to go outside the organization to find new blood to turn this around.
Jones has looked like a good NFL QB
Toney looks like a star
Andrew Thomas looks like a franchise LT
other than that though not much to get excited about.
I know the injury yesterday was a fluke for Barkley but I don't know how you can invest long term in him with his injury past. Such a disaster.
Also using a 1st round pick on Dexter Lawerence who I never see make a play or Leonard Williams getting nearly Aaron Donald money to be a no show. The cowboys ran down our throats and the defense is relatively intact and healthy.
Yea, it’s hard to have any faith that ownership will hire the right guy. Def stuck in the past and trying build an NFL team like it’s the 90s. The game has changed and they refuse to move on.
The allocation/resources to the wrong positions from Gettleman has been really awful. Then also picking some of the wrong guys. I do love Barkley but No way they can pay him a lot of money
another DG favorite is spending on useless vets like Kyle Rudolph and Devonte Booker. Those guys are nearly making 10 MM this year at spots and production that could easily get replicated by young guys that make nothing.
They did this when they signed Jonathan Stewart who's best days were well behind him and its just wasted cap resources in a tight cap league where every dollar counts.
