I'm glad this at what this trade implies more than I am glad that they got Cam. It finally shows this Front office is not risk averse. Up until this point, the front office had not taken many risks. Everything came with low risk involved and accumulating low end assets. You could argue that this may fall in the same boat, but this is the first time they;ve moved something with established value (Protected 1st) for something they clearly targeted in Cam.

A big wing with versatile defensive capabilities is something this team has been lacking even since the Melo days. Cam projects to be that. We'll see if the Knicks can iron out a consistent role for him which he did not have in Atlanta and see if that can help iron out his consistency issues. The tools are there for him to be a 3+D big wing with some slight playmaking upside as well. It's a good fit long term and the next tell-tale sign of what the Knicks really think about Cam is whether they decide to extend him or not and what number that is at. Like the deal but the real part of it that's intriguing to me is what comes next because it feels like a setup deal.

He has talent and he's saucy. But doesn't mean Cam will be serviceable. Some guys it's better off avoiding. Cam, Burks, you have to try to "gray out" certain guys no matter how talented. Worth a shot sounds good. But he's never been good.

Cam Reddish is shooting a career high 40% from the field.

To put this in perspective, both Fournier and Randle have higher FG percentages.

looking at his game log.....he's produced pretty damn well when they've given him 30 to 40 minutes. but he absolutely sucks when given 20 or less.

Atlanta has a lot of tough decisions to make in regards to upcoming contracts. This is the exact bargain move the Knicks should make where circumstances allow us to get a player that would otherwise wouldn’t be available/affordable.

I’ve been crapping on Cam cause for some weird reason, some here were putting him on a pedestal this season. Now that he’s a Knick, all is a wash and I’m willing to see what’s good with him. Still don’t think he’s some “star” player in the making but he’s definitely an upgrade over Knox and good to have around RJ as RJ continues to progress towards that next step.

This is the boat I'm in. Cam was trash at Duke, was trash in his rookie year, and has just moved above trash this season because he's shot the three pretty well.

But he's unquestionably got tools/talent/pedigree, a huge ceiling, didn't cost any premium assets, and is now a Knick so I'm happy to root for him.

The improvement we've seen this year is what I'm going to be holding onto crazy tight. It would be dope if working with Bryant unlocked him further and he became a legit starter.

Kinda fits with a lot of the things we did this offseason. Grabbed a wing that can defend a little bit and can also hit a pull jumper when chased off the line. It also gives us another kid on a rookie deal that has intriguing upside that can let us keep IQ and RJ in a big trade. Like maybe Cam, Toppin, and Grimes makes us a play for Fox or someone at that level.

He's very dramatically not good. Dumping his salary was likely done to ensure the Hawks are under the lux tax threshold. I.e. taking him was an asset to the Hawks.
