Exactly. If we promise Hartenstein the starting spot I have a very hard time seeing him leave, even if he takes a little less initially.

Another thing I want to mention is Hartenstein’s energy, mentality, and what not. Mitch is a lovable dude who has opened up more over the years, but he’s still obviously much quieter and more subdued overall than Isaiah. He’s kinda like OG.

Whereas Isaiah is like Joakim Noah. Similar games and attitudes. That type of vibe is needed with the starters more. Can’t believe this man is only 25. He’s just getting started folks.

Mitch and fournier for a SG or SF would be good

I mean we all see how Gobert is useless in the playoffs and how everyone took a dump on the T Wolves for acquiring him yet we just re-upped a guy with even less offensive skill than Gobert who will be entering his 5th year in the league. This will be a bad contract when all is said and done.

I am nothing if not consistent.

Hartenstein as permanent starter. Trade Mitch.

Best center we've had since Earl Barron.

As much as I love Mitch’s game, his injury history and now with screws in his foot and the history of big men with foot injuries makes it impossible to let Hartenstein go. If we can keep both, start Hartenstein and bring Mitch off the bench and limit his minutes to keep him healthy. If we can only keep one, as much as ut hurts to say it, Mitch has to go.

Stop it with the trade Mitch talk, iHart has never shown this type of skills before this year, less we forget.

Why can't we just fkn have the best center tandem in the NBA? Let's see if we can get to the ECF during Mitch's and iHart's contract.

Hartenstein's taken a leap this year, but again @ 25 he's only 2 years older than RJ. The team has done a great job developing this young man's skills.

We can't afford to spend $30 million a season on 2 centers, it's going to be one or the other. You pick the one that stays healthy.

Do you think Sims is ready to be the backup? Realistically, $30 million for 2 center-pieces both who will on the last year of their respective contracts next season is not especially bad. 2026 is going to be a thick free agent year including both Randle and Brunson.

Therefore, IMO we can't trade Mitch for a backup with a contract pass 2026, we'll need that trade money for next season.

I know Mitch and Isaiah are boys, but things gotta be getting a little awkward right about now.

Also, hilarious how Thibs was actually starting Sims over this dude, until he was forced to change by Sims getting hurt. Now Sims doesnt even play lol.

https://dunksandthrees.com/epm

He’s not just leading the league in defensive estimated plus minus (DEPM), he’s blowing everyone else out of the water. Mitch is 14th in it, so great himself, but Isaiah is almost tied with Brunson in overall EPM. He’s 29th to Brunson’s 24th.

Why not? Keeping both won't put us into the super-tax this summer, and we're hitting it next summer when Brunson & Randle get new deals whether we keep Mitch or not :dontknow:

Only argument I see to move Mitch is if he's definitely out for the year, and our FO really wants to go for it this year without spending the ammo we'll need if a top 10 guy becomes available. Then there's a case for swapping Mitch for someone like Gafford...who's not as good as Mitch, but is healthy and a little cheaper.

But the money is there to keep them both past this season.
