Sometimes as fans we take what our team does great for granted. A hack I found useful is to pretend being a fan of opposing team (in this case, the Nugz), and every possession you make yourself root for the Nugz, you come to realize how damn suffocating our defense is and how clinical our offense is. Defensively, when shot is up there are 2-4 Knicks in the paint for a defensive rebound, Knick players rush to contest shots and rotate like their playing time is depends on them, they stay between you and the rim, theres no easy basket. That's why when Nugz got a rare open shot they rush to take it like "damn their D is crazy I better take this now cuz I ain't gettin a better look" disrupting their offense pace and rhythm, which is what top defensive teams do. They're physical and disciplined, and you almost have to play a "perfect" game offensively to avoid committing a TO against the Knicks (something Lakers experienced all series vs Pistons in 04), passing against this D only gives them more chances for interception/ steals, you'd be better off going to your best players (Jokic/ Murray) and let them go iso (also something Pistons forced Kobe and Shaq to do), which absolutely downgrades your championship offense.

Offensively, their chemistry is at highest level, clicking on all cylinders looks like all players have bought in passing as their top priority, they look like they 10000% trust each other, but they can mix it up too with JB and JR going isos, they have great shooting with DDV, OG, JB, Grimes, even Deuce can light it up. They cut, they crash the offensive boards, they are like swarming as a unit.

---

That said, there are 3 teams I still think that can beat us: Nugz, Clips and Suns. Luckily they're all in the West, which means we won't meet them until the Finals. We can beat them at home, but it will be more telling how we perform on the road against these 3.

However I will also add, wait until he has to play a game without good players beside him (if Brunson and Randle get hurt) and you will see how limited his offensive game is to a 3rd/4th option.

Unlike the Raptors you'll have to wait a while before "he has to play a game without good players beside him" on the Knicks.

They’ve lost 8 of the last 10 games many against bad teams but yeah things are clearly going great over there. That franchise hit the iceberg on December 30 2023

True but they didnt make the trade to compete this year. And RJ has looked great, and IQ is getting his assists up, figuring out how to balance his scoring with being a facilitator.

I'm just saying fleeced is a bit strong when all players involved for the most part have played well even if the Raptors themselves are losing but they didn't make the trade thinking to be competitive this year.

This kind of rhetorics make them snubbed for all stars and mvps. They are both extremely fancy, just not the type of fancy LeBron and Curry turned nba into.

You are telling me you ain't enjoying the footwork, the euro, the perfect floaters, the swishing of the three they both have? Or the sombor shuffle and Brunson perfect fadeaways?

I enjoy watching these two way more than Lillard, KAT or Embiid.

To me, being fancy is playing above the rim with some hang time.
I am grateful for having Brunson as our point guard.
Brunson & Jokic are wizards.. different kind of fancy.

While he wishes he wasn’t, Jokic is easily the fanciest player in the league.

It's not a coincidence we just played our best game since Randle has been a Knick when he was just another part of the offense rather than its focus. This was one of my very favorites nights from Randle since he got here, because he played within the team's flow and got his licks in without altering our ball motion attack. This is how Randle would and should appear on a top team. He cannot be our focus, but he can help us win by playing like he did tonight.

Now we can see what happens when a player like OG asserts themselves. Clearly, our two best players are OG and Brunson. Randle is better as their Robin so it's good for the team and it's good for Randle when the spotlight shines on him a bit less.

He led the team in assists with 8, most of these were to 3 point makes, not uncommon that he does damage with his passing sometimes even more than his own scoring, he wasn’t featured any less than usual though. OG was extra aggressive especially when staggered with the bench which is when I think he will be looking for his own shots more

Randle took 15 shots Rob, not 25

I did think Randle played one of his most controlled games as a knick in a while. 8 assists 2 turnovers...never forced the issue. Hit open shooters.

Overall great game.

Yes, it was one of Randle's best games as a Knick

Phenomenal win. Never really thought something like this could be possible. After destroying Philly we destroyed the other hall of fame Center.

Just hoping everyone stays healthy, we pick up a secondary playmaker and Mitch comes back....just the thought of going into the playoffs with

Brunson-DD-OG-Randle-Isiah with McBride, Grimes, Hart, Mitch + secondary PG/SG off the bench is giving me goosebumps. I really just hope everybody stays healthy. Knicks are poised for the deepest playoff run since 1999.
