Re: PG: KNICKS Knock-Out Embiid's 76ers
its so clear to me, after watching indiana and now 76ers
that we should start mitch.
why?
zoomed-out reasoning:
1/ we have a top 2 offense, and a ranked 20th defense
2/ takes defensive pressure off kat to start the game. allows us to become more un-predictable with our defensive coverages in the 1-5 pnr.
3/ takes foul pressure off kat to start the game
4/ gives better bench balance by sliding josh hart to bench. he will still play 30+ minutes
zoomed-in reasoning:
1/ we've got to get the most out of the 20 minutes from mitch. does that mean we play him with the bench or the starters? where will we get more production out of him?
2/ we need to be able to play mitch with the starters, because in the playoffs (more half court sets) we are going to end the game with mitch on the court in the 4th quarter. he needs to play with the starters.
3/ we already know KAT at the 4 works.
4/ this is not us running away from 5 out. it means we are going to play 5 out less.
that we should start mitch.

No, Deuce is really so much stronger than Embiid. He's the original Ant-Man.

We can mix both types of offensive styles and defensive styles when Mitch comes back successfully. And maybe even when Precious comes back (at least a bit more than now). Having Mitch /I-Hart last year post OG we basically had the #1 defense. Imagine getting a nice lead an then going:
Mitch/Precious
OG/KAT
Bridges
Hart
Brunson/McBride
To close out a game....So much defense there....

Early returns seem to support this. Knicks have a better net rating with Sims than without him and Mitch is far better at what Sims does. Part of this is Thibs related though as his systems require a drop big who's great in the PnR.

I almost wrote that exact sentence but erased because Precious is a different sort of big than those two. It gives a different look. But I agree in principle and he's a good PnR defender who is switchable.

He is but with Sims so low IQ/awareness out there I think that Precious can rim protect better than him overall too. And Precious has an extremely high rebound rate (1 less per 36 than IHart)

Right.
Mitch will do the same stuff as Sims but better.
Precious will do different stuff but also better.

I can't believe the league never held Embiid accountable for this, which is why Mitch is still injured and out to this day.
At least KAT got to head-butt Embiid and Oubre last night.

1.The assistant coach who is in charge of replays needs a raise. Great call by him last night challenging that KAT foul that was overturned!
2.Is Jared McCain related to someone at TNT? Jesus Christ they were knobbing the kid every chance they got!
3.Brunson will be fine. He finished strong last night with 10 points in the 4th. I am starting to wonder if his hand is not fully healed cause the jumper looks a bit off but I also see him thinking too much out there. But he'll be aight. He's Jalen **** Brunson. Mr. I averaged 40 ppg in the playoffs.
4.Sims is giving us some nice minutes as of late with good defense, easy dunks and offensive rebounds. Which is all we need from him.
5.We outscored Philly 33-24 in the 4th and outrebounded them 48-40 which are great signs.
6.The same asshats that trash Brunson and Thibs will also turn on KAT and OG the first chance they get. You guys and gals are an embarrassment to the fan base and if I could somehow ban you from this fandom, I would!
7. I really hate and despise Embiid! There is a lot of Alonzo Mourning in that fool.
Watched the replay in the wee hours. I was like "WTF"?
My only other wtf thought was "the refereeing is really weird".
Refs put the whistles away and Knicks were fouled a LOT on layups. A lot of pushes as Knicks went up for layups, etc.
Then, 2nd half, ref'd the game with tighter whistles. Be consistent.
