The dude is underrated around here. His passing especially short roll, screen setting, floater, IQ, defense, rim protection, etc… they gave him that money for a reason.

because they had a bunch of guys on rookie deals so they had space under the apron and they had to overpay him to get him to leave

Of course, it was a smart move on their part. They wouldn’t have done that for just anybody tho right?

Like the same was said about the Mills/THJR signing… doesn’t make it right… because he sucked lol.

Obvious answer: yes.

Explanation: It's their defense and having the best ball-handler in SGA. IHart is an enhancement for them because he's a center, and they needed the best available one.

One thing I miss about this guy, though...he could pass quickly, defend and make good decisions. That made him a really good pairing with Brunson...a sort of Draymond Green type. I'll welcome him back when OKC declines his contract after next year so they can pay their other guys.

Don't hate on him for getting paid either. We should have tried to get him on a 3 year deal.

Role player can be an ambiguous term, Some are invaluable...like Dennis Rodman...not saying Ihart is that...but hes definitely a higher end elite roleplayer and likely a top 10 center.

I agree with missing him, if we could have paired him with Kat we'd be hands down the best in the East IMO.

What package of Robinson/Hart can get you? or Robinson/Mikal? Mikal/Hart? We need to keep OG he can pay the 2, 3, 4 and show he can be healthy.

I agree Thibs is the problem and without getting into crazy trade scenarios, for Thibs to look like a genius, he needs 2 players that can create shots. I think Giannis would be ideal. Zion, too. Regardless of what happens tonight, I'm fine with Bridges and OG.

They got him specifically to beat teams with big centers, they lose that Denver series without him. The Mavericks bigs were too much for them the year before.

Having him means they can play all different styles of basketball.

I dont think there were any other good centers of note available...

They had 25+mill in cap space and a thousand picks with 1 glaring weakness that Dallas took advantage of. They were gonna shore up their FC and were willing to overpay IH to do it. They wouldve been willing to overpay on the trade market for a Kessler or something if that failed for sure.

If Towns scored 5pt and 6pt in a series , this board would hang him. Same old Randle.

I voted "yes" because they seem to be going to crush any team without the best player on the planet. But maybe that should be "Maybe" because ... why did they really beat Denver?

However mademan makes good points. They had enough assets to prize loose other reasonable rotation bench centers who could bang.

Nope.

IHart is what they needed. They weren't making it to the finals without him imo. That's one of the reason Ihart left.
Idgaf what anybody says
Okc is a boring @$$ team to watch.
Ihart made them contenders.

iHart is really good, and provides another dimension for OKC to play against bigger Cs. Don't think Chet would be playing as well throughout the playoffs if he's a full time C all the time.

It's a solid maybe. I think they are close to what they are without any player on their team aside from SGA.

They'd still be contenders but guys like him are what is taking this OKC team to ATG territory.

They might have still been the #1 seed, but I think Denver beats them if they don't have I-Hart. Denver played them better than anyone else.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.
