Can’t wait until Jenkins gets in and develops the 5 young players the Knicks clearly don’t give a **** about

if the market was thibs, jenkins and mike brown for some other team, thibs would clearly be looked at around the league as the best of those 3

Not according to the players who all voted him the worst the last 3 years

Our players were one of the primary reasons he lost his job

Mike brown seems like a dead end.
100% agree. Mike Brown is a step backwards. Get a young guy that can develop our bench. If anything the NBA finals is proving how important depth and bench play is. I'm high on Jenkins or Bryant. Everyone else can kick dirt.
both teams tightened their rotations last night. that's what happens in playoff dogfights. not saying you shouldn't have and use depth. just saying you also have to be prepared for that other thing.
pacers went 9, but light minutes outside of obi off the bench.
okc went 7/8 plus situationals.
and i can't help but think of how awful cleveland looked against indiana in the close ones where they knew the wide rotation wasn't going to work for them.
I wish the Knicks "tightened" rotation this year was 9 players playing double digit minutes and everyone playing under 37 minutes like the Pacers did last night

It felt like a minor miracle to get the previous coach to expand to a similar 9 man rotation against the Pacers which seemed very necessary to keep players fresh against their pace and depth.

I think Thibs and Jenkins would be close, especially in today’s NBA

No it’s not n you know it lol. It couldn’t be any further from the same thing. Management forcing new assistants on Jenkins and making him fire his whole crew, and having to implement the new assistant’s philosophy is the exact opposite of Thibs not listening to a word from ownership and the FO concerning his philosophy.
Psycho Morant not liking this new offense and management firing Jenkins as a scapegoat isn’t the same as most of our core guys telling ownership and management they don’t know what their role is and speaking up to media about too many minutes… an issue spanning almost two decades with Thibs. Not to mention guys wanting out of here next season if Thibs was still here, and one of our All NBA players already on record for not liking how Thibs used him the first go around.
If Thibs wasn’t Leon’s boy, he would’ve never had another opportunity after his 2nd shot in Minny ended in a public disaster. Thibs will never coach in the league again and the vast majority of players around the league not wanting to play for him is a huge part of that. The same can’t be said for Jenkins or Brown or a lot of these other names we’re linked to who continue to get chance after chance.

i'm not sure about that. thibs has a much longer and more successful track record. it's possible that our team just needed a new voice. that happens. but your wish would be it's a voice coming from someone you know is at least as good.

I just don’t think front offices across all team sports are looking for my way or the highway guys, big personalities who control every aspect of their team. They want more collaborating, analytically driven personalities who will work with the front office and make adjustments together as an organization. Thibs is from a different time.

Re: Official Knicks Coaching Search Thread pt. 2
None of the names mentioned so far have been very inspiring. The best case scenario is Mike Brown or Taylor Jenkins lead assistant with some assistant we’ve never heard of as head coach.
Jenkins was a good coach but it seems like a red flag to me that Memphis front office wanted him to bring in an offensive coordinator. Gelling together Brunson, Mikal, OG, and Towns into a coherent offense is requirement number 1 of any head coach that’s coming in here and idk if he’s the guy that can do it.
Johnnie Bryant also just keeps getting passed over for head coaching jobs. Maybe he’s a diamond in the rough but there has to be some reason why he doesn’t land the final gig.

Re: Official Knicks Coaching Search Thread pt. 2
Which Thibs?
After the Celtics stint?
Thibs after his Bulls stint?
Thibs after his his Minny stint?
Thibs today?
He was a miracle worker with the Bulls. He was a washed up hack after Minny. He's well respected after us. After the Celtics, an unproven assistant.
All three pro stints have concerns about how he'll eventually bump head with his superiors. All have concerns about meshing multiple stars and getting over the hump.

I don’t think it’s about who is more impressive. It’s about a different philosophy in what most teams want in a coach. Jenkins also got a raw deal with the Morant suspension.

Yep. The ideal candidate should be able to show how they will design a system around these guys.
