Excellent news. I know a few people mentioned this as a possibility earlier in the year with Minny being involved. Knicks need to bring back Ridnour or Flynn in the deal if at all possible. Backup PG is still absolutely critical. Our rebounding should be significantly better with Melo and Mozgov getting minutes. Get it done Donnie, let's take it to the east this year! -Jitpal

Carmelo can't get here fast enough and this team is sucking a$$ right now. This roster can't even beat the sixers...how pathetic.

For a trade to work IMO there has to be a third team involved.
Denver clearly is not in love with any of our players...

Mozgov has the skills to be a solid defensive player. Imagine if Thiboddeau had a hold of him? WOW
last night , I was impressed how Mozgov was able to defend the PnR very very well. His length and size disrupted alot of what the sixers were trying to do

are you serious? after tonight, i would specifically include all those except moz.

Trading Amare for Melo defeats the purpose

Eh , just ignore seren. The guy rather see us lose every single game than see Felton/Amare have good games. His juices start flowing when he sees Moz running down the court with his hair flopping back n forth

I thought it was me just imagining that when I was watching...thought I was the only one who noticed. Moz can be a very good overall center...I really hope we end up keeping him. He should be starting NOW...he's already shown what kind of disruptive force he can be on offense and defense.

Melo, Moz, and A'mare would make a very formidable 3/4/5 then you add Gallo off the bench...Moz is gonna be one biggest keys to our future. If he continues to improve, we're gonna be set at the most important position in basketball - center.

He is been doing that since the beginning of the season and in the world championships. That is why I was not ready to give up on the guy. He has a lot of skills, if he gains that confidence and realizes he belongs, watch out, he will be an all star.

He has the capability to be solid, I'm not gonna over rate him just yet.

I didn't get to see last night's game - I was following the box score at work and nearly tore my hair out in the 4th quarter - but it's exciting to hear Mozgov looked good again.

Regarding KnicksGod's suggestions about ("trade one of Gallo or Chandler.") - on Gallo, it's not that a few outstanding games should change one's opinion about whether or not to trade a player, but these games have at least brought Gallo's potential back to the forefront of my mind. His skill set is fantastic, and he is 22. Given Denver's situation, if they get Gallo I honestly don't see why we have to give them a draft pick or whatever on top of that.

I don't think Chandler is the equivalent of Gallo, either in traded value or as piece for the Knicks' future, but a plus for Chandler is that he has shown he can play power forward for stretches, which Gallo has yet to do much of. So he would make our lineup choices with Melo more flexible. Chandler could certainly be an extremely valuable 6th man for us. If we trade Gallo/Curry for Melo (I would NOT include a first-rounder via Randolph in that deal unless we also get a viable backup point guard back in the deal), I like the starting lineup of Felton/Fields/Melo/Amar'e/Mozgov with a bench of Chandler, Turiaf, Williams, Walker, Douglas and a backup point guard from a Randolph trade.

Or maybe the trade with Denver (just a rough idea, didn't work out salaries) could be:

Gallo, Curry, 1st (via Minn) to Denver
Randolph, Douglas to Minn
Melo, Ridnour to NY

That would leave us in great shape, assuming Mozgov can play.

Moz showing some potential when given some minutes, but he really looks embarrassing when he is running around on offense sometimes.. the coaching staff needs to tell him he doesn't constantly have to be setting picks out on the 3p line.. he also has a ways to go with gaining a rebounding mindset, too often he gets lost watching instead of going after the ball.

___

As for Melo, this is good news...Can't think that Denver has many options this close to the deadline with Melo's agent putting this out there...

I'm starting to think we can get away only giving up one of: Chandler Fields or Gallo.... though I could see the deal being similar to the one we heard Denver rejected involving Chandler and Fields... I bet Denver would really want Fields included if it''s Chandler that is involved and not Gallo.

Chandler because he wants big money, Randolph (because Minnesota wants him), and our pick because I'd rather deliver this one than one down the road, by which point Amare will have likely broken down. That's what I would do. No Fields, no Gallo, no Mozgov, no 2014 picks.

If they don't like that offer, we'll talk to them this summer.

That weak package includes 25 million in saving and 2 first rounders that they WILL NOT get in the summer... That doesn't fit the definition of weak if you ask me...

"weak" is relative.

"weak" compared to peanuts?
