I wouldn't too many times have the Knicks been burned by players seeking a large contract. Don't get me wrong the Kid is a great wing defender, but the knicks have Carmelo and we don't need a wing unless melo is going to run the SG position!

I need you read this slowly: We have no meaningful trade assets with which we could trade for a potential young all-star.

Knicksfan1992 wrote:I was going through the trade machine today and was wondering what you guys thought of this not sure if it's feasable or not but, here ya go:

NYK Receive: Kobe Bryant, Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones
OKC Receive: THard Jr., J.R. Smith
LAL Receive Bargs, Perk, Shump, Early

Reasons why each team does it
NYK: Obviously they get Kobe to help sure up the 2 guard spot while also grabbing prospects for the ones they give away in the trade and help un-clutter up the minutes problem at PF since Perry Jones has an accepted backup pf role already while Brags probably wants to start.
OKC; They get a vastly superior 2 guard to what they have now in JR who can be a harden-lite type of player in their offense and would be a great 4th option for them after Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka. And Timmy adds to their bench scoring depth while still being young and cheap
LAL; Shumpert still has decent potential as a 2 guard and he complements Lin pretty well as a guy who can cover the better guard on the other. Earlyis raw but, still young and could become a long-term 3/small ball 4 option for them. And Bargs and Perkins help the tank job and clear cap for a big summer while fixing the atrocity they made of extending Bryant that much money on a crappy, should-be rebuilding team.

Why on Gods earth would anyone of those teams do a trade? LA gets nothing in return! We would have to ship our pick out to get Kobe a guy on the downside of his career! Give up a Project in Early, and the thunder get 2 inconsistent shooters.

Well, they wouldn't trade him for Kevin Love, so I'm sure they'll take STAT's expiring and Timmy for him. Maybe we can even get a pick out of it!

They wouldn't trade him for Love, how the hell are we supposed to get him without trading Melo?

Guess I should have clarified. He still hasn't been signed to an extension. They may very well allow him to become a RFA and field offers. Question is how much of your cap space do you offer him. Think it is possible to leverage them into an SnT at that point?

Personally I think Kevin Love is an upgraded version of David Lee, so I could see why they wouldn't want to trade for him. My opinion though.

Doing what? Trust me, I stopped agonizing over Knicks moves once The Decision was over. Just thought I'd start a discussion about possible moves with our cap space and who might be available at season's end.

I wouldn't offer him a max at this stage, not for a his lone MVP award alone! I would offer something like a 4/44 mil contact and giving him a player option to make case for a max!

you're alone in this, this guy is still the best wing defender in the league and on top of that a wildly efficient scorer.

He would be our version of Scottie Pippen lol. He's the only FA i would want over Gasol, sucks that he's restricted :(

I would love to have Klay on this team. Dude has a killer mentality that this team lacks. Oh, he can shoot a bit too :D

Pass...unlike Klay.

He plays a modicum of D in one series And he's suddenly the next great 2 way SG. Dude does nothing to make his teammates better. He shoots 3's and gets buckets.

Overrated. Would rather focus on bigs and possibly PG

Even the Lakers can't pull off miracle trades any more but if there was even the slightest chance management must try. If a Knick fan has a pipe dream, let him. Our reality over the years has been nightmares.

Anyone think we can pry Andre Iguodala from Golden State

Klay just signed a huge deal and they signed Shaun Livingston plus have Harrison Barnes starting and Draymond Green.
