Do you remember how bad we were last year? lol We also have an 18 year old PG with a language barrier. If Melo's our creator on offense, we're going to lose games with the best of 'em.
1) Frank speaks fluent english
2) we won 31 games with an offense that the players did not understand
3) Rose is gone (Addition by subtraction)
4) Melo is one of the best offensive players in the NBA, we need to trade him to make sure we get a lottery pick, with him we're a fringe playoff team. Without him we're still better than the other lottery teams.
we're already in No Mans Land so we need to develop good young rotation players with our pick next year and the young talent we have now but need to improve through free Agency
Fluent? His english doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. It will be good within 6 months but you're crazy to think it's anything close to perfect yet. Also, please don't expect much from an 18 year old. Rose gets a ton of **** on this board, rightfully so, but Ntilikina is not coming in and torching people. Lastly, Melo is one of the worst defensive players in the NBA... Also, his offensive efficiency is not good. We've missed the playoffs 4 years in a row with him.... We haven't been good WITH him in a long time.
Does it sound like there's a barrier here? Sounds pretty good to me, understands questions, and answers with mature answers. As for Him not being ready I agree. We do need to trade Melo but not for horrible contracts just so we can add a late first rounder especially considering Houston will have a top 4 record. If we can get an expiring, and 2 first rounders I'd pull the trigger, if not, I'd just let him play out the year and opt out. Like you said, we haven't made the playoffs with him in 4 years and we definitely won't make it without him but I dont see us losing more than the Nets, Jazz, Bulls, and Pacers with or without Melo. So if it came down to it and the trade was bad contracts for Melo I'd say no.
With Melo we're a 7-10 lottery team
without Melo we're a 5-7 Lottery Team
Major Difference is we'd have Cap space after the year with Melo Opting out to join forces. If we trade for Long contracts we'd get a 5-7 pick, be locked into our cap space and can't look to improve on the outside for the next 3 years (i.e Anderson, Leonard, Even Harkless) I'd rather have Cap flexibility so if I were the new GM i'd ask for Expiring + picks bc I can hold onto Melo and get just that.
