And hopefully it just further adds to the belief among players that Boston is cheap and petty and doesn't treat players right.

Keep watching Mr. Davis Senior.

I wanna take Tatum from them.

If we get the 2nd pick I would trade it to Boston for Tatum. Boston can use that pick to trade for AD. Win win

I'm pretty sure the Pelicans would rather have Tatum over the #2 pick.

The Knicks aren't gonna trade for AD until the offseason cause if they traded for him now they wouldn't be able to sign two max players but if they wait until the offseason they can sign two max players and then make the AD trade and have a big 3. The Knicks will be waiting with the Celtics until the offseason to be in on AD or B.Beal or any big money player that's available for trade.

I agree with this logic.

I can also see trading for Davis now because 1) it locks in one legit maxcat and 2) it throws a grenade into just about everyone else's plans and potentially creates nuclear fallout across multiple teams with big aspirations right now.

How much money would contracts would the Knicks need to send to NO now in order to still be able to sign two max players in summer? It must be possible...

I don't think it's possible because the salary of the 2019 pick isn't set yet. I would only be possible after the lottery when the picks are officially assigned salary holds. Right now the picks count as $0 in any trade, whereas after they're set the Knicks 2019 will be worth around $7M-$8M.

my thinking too. and not only does it lock in one superstar, IMO it locks in another. If the Knicks trade for AD, I can't see them not being able to sign another star player in FA (all signs point to KD. I think trading for AD makes KD more likely). Thats 2 of the top 5 players in the league on 1 team...in NY...I think you gotta do it (and I'm usually someone who loves to hoard assets)

So you guys would rather have 2 max players over 3? Hmmmmmmmm

The theory is predicated on the odds of AD/Maxcat being significantly higher than getting all three.

one thing though is that part of toronto's success was moving ibaka to center. they were a more mobile team.

LOL this is really funny. LA is going to have all sorts of troubles on its bench for the rest of the year. Sung to the tune of, "Lebron's gonna trade you...."

a lot more has happened than usual.

it would seem strange too because golden state is unbeatable. why then are all these teams bothering ? wouldn't it be better to hold back and save their assets ? i have a theory. what if they all know this is the last year golden state stays together ? :o

Trading for AD now ensures us 1 top 5 player, and makes KD (another top 5 player) even more likely. Plus after both those moves they'd have about 20M in cap space and could trade for another star like Beal
