Let's not forget the Knicks were down 13 at halftime in game 2.

The Knicks really played only one good half of basketball in this 5-game series.

We were outmatched, out-talented, and outcoached. It was never close.

Also put some respect on McMillan's name.

Where was IQ drafted

IQ is an okay player. He is not saving this franchise. We need top talent

That’s a different statement than they’re not useful

A number of teams have been tanking for years and still aren’t ****

Right? OKC drafted 3 MVPs back-to-back-to-back and still didn’t win sh*t. If that doesn’t prove tanking doesn’t work I don’t know what will

Hell lakers drafted 2 three years in a row and werent **** till lebron got there and demanded they trade for davis.

Positives:

Umm, Obi? I guess? I'll give Taj some credit too. Old man really came out strong every game. He's quite a player, and man in general. Props to Taj.

Negatives:

1. Having Randle as your FRaNcHiSe PlAyEr next year is really, really depressing. I've never seen a player choke as bad as he just did. It wasn't just one game, it was 5. ALL 5! Wow. Never seen anything like that before. We're stuck with him, because we'd be lucky to get a 2nd round pick after a performance like that.

2. RJ. I won't tear into him too much since he's 20. I also feel like he really looks up to Randle, and Randle's horrid play actually had an effect on him. I truly believe that. He's okay. Maybe a 4-5 on a championship team. Definitely a keeper though.

3. All the one year vets. G-O-O-D-B-Y-E!! I don't care if all of them are gone. I'm not even going to take the time to break them all down individually. Bullock was okay today I guess. But I seriously could care less if we bring any of them back.

4. Rose. Best player in the series, although he didn't show up tonight. Sham kind of called it, saying Rose might be ready to give up after Randle pretended to be tough guy last game giving out that late game elbow. I would love to re-sign Rose, but if I'm him, I'm outta here. Think about this with common sense.. why would Rose want to sign up for this all over again next year, when he could sign with a team like the Laker/Clip/Philly/Milwaukee/PHX and content for a title? If you're him, what would you do?

5. Thibs: I don't agree with all the posters trying to blame this series on Thibs. This league is a PLAYERS LEAGUE. NBA coaches traditionally don't have all that much of an impact on games. It's more of like what Phil Jackson's role was on the Bulls. A team Psychologist. In game decisions are completely overrated by posters. Although he made a huge mistake benching Payton, because that completely destroyed the our bench mob crew. We were never the same after that decision was made. So for that, I give him an F for listening to the media and the fans. He should have started Frank, and left the second unit alone.

Final Prognosis:

1. We are not good. We seriously are not. And we're stuck now too for 3-5 years, because you know we're going to re-sign Randle. So, even if we make the playoffs in years to come, we already know how Randle sh*t the bed, so we're not exactly going to be confident in the playoffs in the coming years.

2. Rose might not be back. Some of you need to start realizing that's a very distinct possibility. If you're him, would you come back when you could join a contender and enjoy winning with TRUE franchise players?

3. I'm going to predict we're in the lottery next year. Especially if we lose Rose. Also, someone is going to pay Burks/Bullock/Noel, even Taj. Who knows who will be in a Knicks uniform next year? We're lottery bound.

he could probably play defense on Trae and make 3 pointers

Yeah but would he attack Trae offensively with drives. Bullock played defense and shot threes and it didn’t fix the issue, Trae was able to hide defensively.

You just gotta appreciate a year of meaningful basketball in the garden after what we have been through.. am I happy? No I wanna win, but I’ve been thinking all year our team is learning how to win basketball games.. can’t be mad when we were playing with house money after win 22.

I will say I think the front office is gonna have to force thibs hand some more, Obi got better over the year I would of gladly taken a play in with Knox and Frank getting mins over Elf

Tanking is just a method. It's also a method our front office did nothing to avoid. Julius Randle just went super saiyan all season.

It's also one that sometimes leads to Andrew Wiggins.

I didn't say anything of the sort. There were debates on a few talk shows on whether or not Thibodeau was a championship level coach given his success with the Bulls and the Knicks. I mentioned his antiquated style of coaching on the offensive end and also mentioned he can help losing franchises rebuild but he won't get you to a championship level.

He was a COY candidate this season and deservedly so but he's limited. He was in the perfect situation this season taking a team like this and overachieving.

He coaching a team with one pg who is over the hill, centers that cant score, and his two best players bricking shots. What more was he supposed to do?

You said his coaching philosophy on the offensive end isn't anitquated and you didn't back it up with any specifics. You mentioned players on the roster.

He decided to let Julius Randle run rampant in isolation sequences all series long. The moment Obi and IQ came into the game in the late 3rd, they played with more effort and the ball was moving freely between our players.

Obi was playing with more effort on both sides of the ball (albeit in limited time,) than Randle was. Obi misses one baseline jumper and he gets yanked out for Randle the moment they cut the lead down into single digits.

i didn't mention anything about the roster, I mentioned he has a very old fashioned and rudimentary coaching style on the offensive end. A heavy emphasis on post up's and isolation sequences. That won't get you far in this league. Maybe in 1994.

worse part about these playoffs was not being able to see the games on MSG. had to deal with such terrible commentary.

we're really spoiled with breen and clyde (or clyde and anyone when breen is busy).

before anyone questions me, I don't have cable and have to watch streams. couldn't find any MSG streams.

Why do ya’ll keep saying Frank is coming back. If he is smart he leaves this team. The best perimeter defender and he got crap minutes in a series against a perimeter threat like young......

I like Frank but he is gone

Well it looks like like the 4th and 5th game validated my point. He is not a franchise player. He is someone of value you trade and get more young talent for. If there was a all star free relent we can get this year you get him help then you keep him. “well there is no franchise Allstar players on the market” “his asking price is to high” oh and did I mention he also had the worst playoff series in the nba’s shot clock era?.

He’s what you call fake hard. He does a lot of fake hustling and is very on off with his motor.

I’m just going to count this as a victory for my self that I was validated I was not being irate and irrational. On the contrary I was being rational. The people who were irrational were the was delusional enough to think he was going to have a big game.

If we never had fans again I sign him to a max.

But that’s not the case he is a mental midget and should only make half of what he want from the max .

Have a good safe summer everyone. I will apologize if I angered anyone. I’ve been going through a hard time in my life and watching the Knicks during that run brought some much needed positivity in my life. Although I made the mistake on relying on them to only disappoint me.

God bless everyone and I’ll say at least obi showed flashes. Quickley a lot of flashes during the season. RJ needs to work more. But I’ll be be honest he has showed flashes as well. Take care everyone.

So five games negate the previous 70?

List them. Not bad teams who tried to be good and failed miserably. List the teams tanking for years

TimberWolves, Kings, Pelicans, Cavs just to name a few. Then more just now approaching mediocrity. Like the Knicks. We took a step forward this season and some fans still complaining

Kings tried to win
Pelicans tried to win
Cavs tried to win

Wolves have been tanking the last two years & that’s only b/c they’re bad. They sold their pick to be good this year

Show me the teams tanking every year. Not bad teams. Show me the tanking teams.

Wolves and Pels absolutely have a brighter future than us. Let's not even mention the Hawks, Mavs, or any other team that has drafted high in the past few years and now has legit game changing talent.

Who do you think will walk through that door to rescue the team in a trade or FA?

A step forward to what? Let's talk next year when the Knicks are committed to Julius on an extension as well as Bullock and god knows what other overpaid signing... and fighting for a play-in spot.

Return to New York Knicks
