There are a lot of Ball & Lavine fans here I thought?
They’re good. We’re good. We’ll see who’s better by year end.
I thought this team was good. It is most certainly not good.
It might be good after a theoretical trade that happens most likely halfway through next season. We shall see.
As I stated to melo, I'm not sure how mediocre youth, mediocre 1st round picks in the mid 20's, and 9,318 2nd rounders nets anyone great, but hey, maybe WWW has some intel on someone.
We won’t look so mediocre over time. That’s my guess. It’s a long NBA season. I’m not a fan of a lot of the moves they made this summer but I don’t expect the team to be bad. Maybe I’m wrong
I was a fan of the moves, within the context of knowing they were buying time. I'm no longer a fan of the moves and the team looks bad.
At the very least, they need to remix the lineups, which might restore the team to just above mediocrity, like last year's team.

Better hope he holds up for 4 years.
It’s actually just 3 years. Goes back to my point where I said Derozan can be used as trade bait for a real super star. Fournier’s contract is looking pretty horrible on the other hand

Tatum and Simmons might be great together. Simmons might be absolutely great next to a high scoring wing. Idk I’m just rooting for him more now since he’s the scapegoat
Yeah I'm with you on that. I'd love to grab him myself, pause. You never know what might work. Simmons not taking Tatum's shots but running crazy seems like it could work big as I think about it.
Seems unlikely Simmons is going to a top 3 scorer but doesn't mean he couldn't be a huge role player.
Not comparing them to these two, but are you thinking like a Pippen Jordan dynamic?
Yeah that could well be their model. It does fit.

As bad as Fournier has been, he probably still has more skill than RJ. Let that sink in.

Rockets are going to eat 87M these next two seasons by sending Wall home?
That sure is an expensive tank

Just saw that. Wow.
You’d assume they’d reach a buyout next season so he could at least sign a minimum contract elsewhere. Wake up, Perry!

I don't know how they're even allowed to just refuse to play their highest paid player who is able to play, so they can tank. How's that within league rules? We see this every year, surely the league would have some interest in not having decent players miss entire seasons just so franchises can tank

I’m sure Zion is enjoying the dysfunction of the David Griffin experience.

Re: Around the NBA part 2 - Save Melo from Brodie
If Ben Simmons can be fined for missing games in Philly with an unclear mental health issue, then the Houston Rockets should surely be fined by the NBA for a healthy John Wall missing games and potentially the entire season in a shameless tank effort.

Law school 101 but it’s just a services contract for money. If your house painter refuses to paint your house, you don’t have to pay him. But you are also allowed to pay him and then change your mind about painting the house. If the painter keeps the money, he's not allowed to sue you for not letting him paint your house.
Wall has no cause of action against the Rockets. They’re free to play or not play him as they wish.

Wall is probably fine just getting paid not to play anyway, but the league might have an interest to stop teams from not playing their players and deteriorating the product so they can game the system

Absolutely. And I bet this issue gets raised at the next CBA negotiations. In this case, I'm sure the Rox are just telling the league that they want to focus on developing the two yutes (in their backcourt). Keep in mind they JUST went through the hell of Fat Harden and justifiably don't want another malcontent circus show.
