How many great players have we heard ppl make that claim about only for them to continue playing at a high level. Not just in the NBA but also NFL. If we had CP3 it would solve every problem this team has.
How many great players eventually fall off the cliff? 100%. Its biology, father time always wins. Jason Kidd looked great for us until he suddenly didn't...Im not investing 4 years at 30millkion + for that lingering question mark.
I get what you're saying but kidd, billips, bibby, davis were all washed before they signed with us

We’re not bringing Fournier off the bench either.

I really want these next 2 games. If we can grab those with beating The Hawks, it erases the bad taste of the last 10 or so games.

With Kemba’s health (and salary) I can see him being benched before Fournier. The flipside of that is Rose, Fournier, and Burks might work really well as a new bench movement.
All of these and more could end up being the line up by Jan if they keep struggling.

But look at what the kids are doing? Thibs is not benching Fournier. I'll even sig bet you on that.

That second quarter was the most fun I've had watching this team all year.
IQ
Grimes
RJ/Burks
OBI
Sims
The energy and intensity was impressive.

Except Kemba didn't play tonight and he still didn't start IQ. Same thing last season, he did everything to keep IQ on the bench even when Elf was out. I think he just likes IQ with the bench unit because of his connection with Obi.

Great win!
Burks carried us. IQ solid. RJ good bounce back. Fournier hit big shots. Randle trash first half, better second. Sims made a massive impact, didn't look lost at all like before.

I think Thibs still sticks with Kemba in the starting lineup given his rep. If he does, I hope he can swap Burks and Fournier. Can't play Kemba and Fournier together on defense, hope Thibs staggers them.
Burks can be our 'playmaker' in the starting lineup, while you can run Kemba in some of the same action as Fournier/Bullock as our 'shooter'.

Re: Knicks - Hawks PG: This is what effort looks like
Just watched the replay and there were A TON of positives:
ALEC BURKS - He is inconsistent at times, but showed up big in ATL.
IQ - Controlled the tempo of the game like a boss. Definitely stepped it up at the 1. Could he be our point of the (near) future?
OBI - He's always the first guy to break for the basket and a guaranteed lob machine. TOTALLY different player from his rookie season. Really glad we didn't trade him.
JERICHO SIMS - Cool, calm, and collected. This guy was a beast tonight at the 5 and is already an excellent backup. Very solid find in the draft.
GRIMES - Glad to see Thibs trust him and give him valuable minutes and experience. His D is deadly. He's got a bright future in NYC.
FORNY - Those 3's were falling like rain. Knew his role and fulfilled it.
Now for the negative:
JULIUS RANDLE - With him out of the game, the ball is flying up and down the court and everybody is getting a touch. However, as soon as Randle comes in everything shifts to slow motion. If he is bringing the ball up the court, it's predictable by the defense that it'll never leave his hand until he shoots. Julius has to learn to draw the double and triple teams then kick the ball out earlier to the open man and keep it moving. Kill the iso.
All in all, this was a helluva game and a great win. I loved seeing Trae Young and his punchable face when he realized their 7 game winning streak was coming to an end thanks to the KNICKS!!

Re: Knicks - Hawks PG: This is what effort looks like
I get the feeling we’re going to compare our starters vs. Phoenix and our bench vs. Atlanta and draw conclusions that the starting lineup is broken and the bench unit is perfect… this is no apples to apples…
Many people are ignoring the offensive progress our regular starting unit is slowly but currently making.
The Kemba/Randle pick and roll is slowly becoming more effective and the Randle/Fournier two man game is currently functioning at the levels it was at the beginning of the season. Once RJ/Mitch revive their penetration/lob game I could see the starting unit clicking on all cylinders within the next 3-5 games.
I just don’t think the fanbase has patience for that.

I was hyped when I heard Hahn say that but, honestly, I really like IQ playing with Obi these young guys. I'd now like to include RJ in that because he obviously so much more comfortable playing with his peers. Randle and Kemba take him out of his game. The ball moves to the open person with the second unit and RJ can be that guy who leads them. It's the second unit that's the key to our future. Let's bring them along together. If I see Randle wave IQ, I'll be pissed.
Our draft guys are out-shining our free agent/trade guys in the front office.

This was a good win , but as a .500 ish team , you will get good wins bad loses.
This was a good watch , knicks had lead through most of the game .
The team looking better lately with thibs low key being benefited from starting lineup tinkering .
Mitch in concussion protocol , kemba gifting him a day off on a back 2 back . This is the issue basically -the starting lineup and right now we getting relief from that dubious lineup we are apparently stuck with .
Ok so maybe I gotta eat sh It because the Knicks won with an adjustment that wasn’t Mitch . My rebuttal is that it’s 1 game.
And I don’t care about being right , I’d this team just adjust and be good . Be watchable but I’ll be 100 that is too much to ask . If you want your team to win you watch and root regardless of what ever dumb stupid stuff the coach decides to do .
There’s a fine line . If the Knicks started winning by going on all 4’s and barking like dog , would you like that ? Watch that ?No not really but a lot of coaches and strategies are bastardizing the game .
