Oh man, that is interesting if the move is for Ayton. I don't love the idea of paying a center max money though.

CBS Sports' Sam Quinn says a max contract from the Suns would be worth a projected $176.9 million over five years for Ayton. If he signed a max contract elsewhere, it would reach an estimated $131.15 million over four seasons.

5 seasons 177...is the max in a S&T:

In this proposal The first 2 years are 'pretty low' at 29 and 32....Sign and Trade of Robinson in the scenario and Cam and Taj going to other way too.

29
32
35.5
38.5
42

Ok option 2 is pie in the sky scenario:

If you want to get really crazy and you successfully shed major salaries like Fournier and Rose going in a S&T with Dallas. And Mitch and Taj in S&T with Phoenix. You open up space for Donovan Mitchell (whom we have been heavily linked to) . Between the 3 deals it would require a total emptying of our accumulated FRPs assets but you could end up with:

Ayton Sims
Randle Obi
RJ Grimes
Mitchell Rose Quickley
Brunson Mitchell Quickley McBride

Also maybe 1 or 2 of Obi, McBride,Quickley,Grimes also probably go in those deals.

You would hope Ayton gives better spacing for Randle. Burnson Mitchell though small would be a tremendous shooting backcourt. RJ higher efficiency in year 4 with a better point. And Ayton super efficient 60% FG shooter with a bit of a mid range game.
New reality of Son ship!

I wonder if Sarver and the Suns see Mitch as a huge upgrade to Biyombo and McGee for them to pay him around $15m/year.

I think what they want to upgrade is the PF position. Julius might be too costly for them they may actually want to take Obi instead.

If they want Obi that’s a complete no brainer for me. I’m not sold on Obi and still look at him as a mid back up role player

It is going to be bittersweet for me if we have to do that Cam and Fournier trade for Brunson in order to have cap space to get Ayton in a sign-and-trade. Would be ecstatic if my two favorite underrated players - Ayton and Cam - both end up with the Knicks.

Here's something to consider... the Spurs haven't forgotten about the Chuck Morris incident, they would happily listen to Rose's increasingly better and better offers of more and more picks but they were not going to send Murray to NY for anything except a lopsided deal.

They were going to take less from the Hawks to do the deal than what they would want from the Knicks because of their feelings about the franchise there is no doubt in my mind this is the case. So if the Hawks paid 3 picks and a swap, the Knicks would have to give them 4 and two swaps. Gallinari is cap filler but they'd want young players from the Knicks instead.

There was no way the Knicks were going to land Murray without emptying the cupboards of nearly everything the Knicks had to offer. Is Murray the final 'star' piece that makes them title contenders? Is there a chance his ball dominance doesn't fit well with the players already here? Is there a chance he leaves after two years and the Knicks have nothing to show for it?

These are all things at play that just getting Murray in the building doesn't solve, there was too many unknowns with him beyond just his talent which is the only known, he's talented but still a flawed 'star' who's skills aren't modern NBA suitable. As we are finding out if you can't shoot as the games matter more the player gets exposed and the Spurs know this and why they sold high for what they could.

He has more of a chance succeeding next to Young than he ever would next to Randle and Knicks fans have to realize until Randle is gone he has to be considered with every move they make.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I hear you Bro but paying max money for Donovan Mitchell, Zach Lavine or Bradley Beal is not worth it, they are all severely flawed "max" players

We have gems in Quickley and Grimes, and D Rose ain't going anywhere, we might as well swing for the fences for a 24 year old big in Ayton no?

What kind of money would you guys be willing to throw at Ayton?
He was looking to get a max which would be $130mm over 4 years for teams outside of the suns. That's a lot of money the Knicks would have tied up in their starting line-up assuming they get Brunson and extend RJ. Might be worth it though...

For sure, there are worse moves. A center who could stay on the floor in the playoffs is a valuable piece

Honestly the Knicks could sign no one right now and I would be fine. Give the kids a chance to run the show and let's see what we have. Dejonte Murray was sought after and netted 3 1sts because San Antonio finally let him take the reigns of the team. Remember he was a later 1st than Quickley. We can't truly consider the guys assets if they don't get the opportunity to breakout.

So we running out

Brunson
Grimes
RJ
Randle
Ayton

With IQ, Rose, Sims and whatever else on the bench (we probably sending Obi out).

Don’t hate it. But Randle makes me not love it.

This is Brunson’s team now. Get on board with 6th man IQ/Ben Gordon or get out now.

I have learned to believe it when they sign on the dotted line. I don't trust anyone out there when it comes to Knicks rumors.
