I was pro-Kemba anti-Fournier. Quickly conceded on Kemba. I thought he had gas and he didn't.

I haven't been married this long without learning a thing or two. One of those things is refraining from holding strong opinions it saves my azz from being held accountable.

My god this is true. Right around the time I joined these forums I interned with the NYS DEC. One day, one of the other employees drove me down to the facility where they worked on our vehicles to pick up a truck. He explained to me that it had been there for a few months for something minor like an oil change. I was baffled. How could that take so long? Well, the word was that the supervisor hated the lead mechanic down there and the lead mechanic figured that as long as he didn't take any initiative to do anything that he wasn't specifically tasked to do he couldn't get fired since there would be no cause. So he just didn't do anything and they'd eventually have to instruct him directly or put somebody else on the task.

This troubled me deeply. I just didn't understand how somebody could be that neglectful to principle to avoid conflict. Then I got married. Now I understand. You can't do anything wrong if you don't do anything.

Minimizing consequences. Rather get in trouble for not doing something than doing it wrong.


Being lazy > being a fck up

This also sets us up to look good. So when we do something even though it's wrong we made an attempt.

Keeping the expectations low.

i'm team mitch. i was one of the only people who wanted to let hartenstein walk because we had mitch. i think he will play a big role on this team as a 6th or 7th man sliding KAT to the 4 for stretches which is why they're focused on having him available in the postseason

Calling them "finesse" is the problem. It's basically a euphemism for "soft" which is wrong.

I dunno about that, I think finesse is more about being skilled and finding success through talent and grace vs. winning primarily through grit and playing hard. Ideally you'd have both. Skill and toughness.
