it's hindsight but the whole giving him a pass for not caring/trying because he was on a bad team was a huge mistake and should have been seen for what it was - a major red flag.
there's lots of good players on bad teams that still give their all. the idea his defense fell off because he was on the nets has proven to be false - he simply fell off.
