If I was Mills I'd be on the phone with Cleveland. They're desperate, they're not content with Waiters & Bennett. IDK if we'd be able to pry Thompson from them, but its possible. This franchise has no balls to trade Melo though.

This is not thread worthy, why not just post in the trade thread.

there's that thing about convincing melo to extend there too.

i think if the knicks are to trade melo, they should do their best to get their pick back from den/orl, cause once melo is gone, it's going to get real bad.

said it in a previous page but basically (first I'd preface this by saying i don't know how good turk and nelso still are, or how good that cat fornier is)

orl trades: knicks/nugs 2014 first round pick
orl gets: melo

knicks trade:melo, shumpert
knicks gets: knicks/nugs 2014 first round pick, turk, nelson, fornier

denver gets: iman shumpert
denver trades: back the right to swap picks between theirs and the knicks

seeing as both teams suck, they can essentially get shumpert for free. it's a loss the knicks should be willing to take, particularly, if they made such a trade, they'd be in position on back to back years to draft really high on the draft, and thus rebuild pretty quickly after all of this madness.

on top of that, by 2015, it's possible that they could end up with 2 blue chippers (say, oh i don't know, parker, and the following year embiid) 8-) as well as a ton of cap space to sign just about any free agent(kevin love) they want.

of course, this would on be contingent on melo accepting an extension (which i believe he would, it's olr, they've got oladipo, and they'll have alot of capsace in 2015 as well) orl agreeing (not sure) and the nuggets agreeing to dead the swap (not sure) and that is a lot of things.

if the knicks can't get melo a legit wingman, i think that might be the best course of action. that's my hope anyway.

No Dener would not be getting Shumpert for free, in fact they would be overpaying massively. Denver traded their 2014 pick to Orlando so Denver would be trading their 1st. Which is not happening in one of the deepest drafts in years, especially when the Knicks are playing so bad. Lottery pick for shumpert........no way.

It's LA, Houston, Dallas, Chicago as the trade partners the Knicks have.

The bolded can be said for any team they'd try to trade Carmelo to besides LA & even then, why give up any assets (can't trade their 2014 anyway & this draft is SERIOUS) at all when you can wait while getting better draft position?

Carmelo would re-sign in Houston to help Dwight Howard who purposely acted an ass on his big brother's team last year? No. Dallas? Is that the "winning organization" Carmelo was referring to? (Cuban would just dismantle it anyway) No. The situation in Chicago is so uncertain (& unfortunate) that finding a way to acquire Carmelo should be the least of their worries.

NYK Receive: Tiago Splitter, Patty Mills and a 2014 First Round Pick

SAS Trade: Tiago Splitter, Patty Mills and a 2014 First Round Pick

?

I do that in a heartbeat. They'd definitely want to send back some more salary though. Chandler | Duncan would almost be unfair inside.

this thread is getting crazy now...guys melo has 0% chance of being traded and its absolutely crazy to think the knicks will trade 2 or more rotation players (draft picks in some of your proposals) for kyle lowry. What has lowry done in this league to warrant being traded for a starting PG and the 6th man of the year? or a starting PG, your best young asset in shump, etc? Most of ya'll didnt even think Bargs was worth novak, camby, and w/e else we traded and bargs was a 20ppg player and the man on the raptors. How is lowry effectively worth more than what bargs was/is?

If Chicago is serious about trading Luol Deng, how about this offer?

Bargs and Jr + ThJr for Luol Deng and Tony Snell(doesnt have to be included)

Deng has to agree to an extension with us though. They probably rather have Shump than JR, but Chicago has no leverage when it comes to Deng considering hes hitting the FA market and their are reports they will let him walk and have Butler play the 3 next yr. We add in Tim because they are acquiring a big contract in Bargs.

I want a winning culture around here with high iq players. Getting rid of Jr will do wonders. Tyson/Melo/Deng/Shump/Felton.

Chicago rejects? Bad for us? Tell me what you guys think.

denver traded the lesser of the two picks between the knicks and the nuggets to the magic. if the knicks where to trade melo to get the pick back, they'd be trading for the lesser pick. the knicks would be trading to dead the swap option. meaning, they'd get shumpert for nothing. so, yeah they'd get him for free.

Bargnani and Shumpert for Deng works technically.

It would move Melo back to the four permanently and provide a second scorer that we desperately need. Dont know if Chicago would bite.
