He'd really be stupid for saying that if people are questioning his intelligence based on the comment he actually made. The deal itself is bad. Doesn't mean that the Knicks shouldn't match Lin (they should). But bad it is still. I mean what can he do? Call out Dolan and the FO for not matching right away? I know that's what people want him to say right and do right? Maybe he should. But how do we crucify him if he doesn't. When was the last time any player went that far? And how many times has that happened? Yes, I would have loved for him to look into the camera and say "you got to match that offer, come on"...but if he doesn't doesn't mean it validates all the conspiracies the anti-Melo group has on him. Honestly, Stoudemire could come out and say that. So could Chandler. Have they?

You're speaking too much sense right now

I think Melo was dumb to say what he said, but there is already been the typical overanalysis of what his words meant.

I don't think what he said meant much at all... but he needs to be smarter about how he communicates to reporters.

I'm guessing that's a joke, but it does bring up something I was thinking about. how is Kidd going to be ok losing minutes to Felton??? PG controversy.

Where is the **** support from Chandler and Stoudemire? How about Shumpert? Heck even his buddy Fields hasn't said "what are the Knicks thinking, they have to bring him back!!!". What about Woodson? What about Grunwald? What exactly did he say that was so bad? Stop the crazy ass conspiracy theories.

Here goes the hate on Melo. It will be great seeing all of you guys back when Melo goes on a stretch of dropping 35+ points

melo has played in the league for years; jeremy has played 25 games

So? You don't talk about other players money, especially when you just hijacked 2 franchises to get all yours.

People are falling over themselves to get to a contender and Landry and Lin go sign offer sheets with 2 of the worst teams in the NBA next year… Well I guess Lin fans will be happy, Jeremy will get to put up a lot of shots in Houston with that roster, maybe 50fga a game but losing sucks…. signed Loyal Knick fan that went through 10 years of Isaiah

If the Knicks do match than they have Felton at 3mil a year as a trade piece around the trade deadline. You can almost guarantee there are going to be a few playoff teams looking for PG help..

Good move by Grunnie and he has another guy on a 3 year deal if he pans out. That being said I hope Lin comes back (1000% Snarky comment above aside) He showed that “It” factor last season, just don’t know if it’s the FO thinks it’s enough to possibly eat 45mil in luxury tax.

But Lin was the one who caused the deal to happen, so criticizing the deal amounts to a criticism of Lin for agreeing to it. It makes Lin look like the bad guy, and I'm not sure if that's (a) completely unintentional; (b) Melo showing his true colors; or (c) the FO told him what to say.

We probably won't really know until Tuesday. But in retrospect, Felton was spotted at Dolan's July 4th BBQ so the organization must have already had plans for Felton way before Houston even made a contract offer to Lin...
