Sorry... but if it's not in the New York Daily News, the New York Newsday, or the New York Post then it just can't be true.

Carmelo Anthony addressed the widespread notion that he's a selfish player, pinpointing in his mind when the "Anthony is selfish" meme began.

"Let's be frank about it," he said. "When it comes to the Knicks, we're talking about one particular point in time. We're talking about the whole Linsanity thing. That's when it started. That's when it started to escalate as far as people saying I was selfish."

wrong. it was already embarrassing by the time fans at the Garden were yelling at him to "pass the ball."

I wish Anthony would learn to say "no comment" more. It's probably true to an extent because of how much the overall attention increased, but dude really needs to learn how to be more savvy with media/PR stuff, especially in NY.

Agreed.

I'm sure at this point he's getting a bit ticked off with these questions but this is a battle he can't win. He should just look forward to next season and issue no more additional comments on these topics.

Dam Melo stop saying so much stupid ****. I hate it when people backpedal. It just makes things worse. Melo has been considered "selfish" since his Denver days. I don't really agree with the idea that he is a selfish player but a lot of people did consider him a selfish player.

Exactly... take a page from Derek Jeters book. Stock vanilla answers. He just opens up way too much and he doesn't understand that even if you're truly trying to be honest with the media it doesn't matter because that's not what they're interested in. They're interested in drama. I never liked it when I started hearing he was buddy-buddy with SAS. Don't chum around with reporters... none of them.

I'm starting to wonder if people like SAS and his agency aren't feeding him this kind of garbage.

Ass far as reporters are concerned Carmelo Anthony is like the Goose that keeps laying Golden Turds. He really is remarkable and has officially reached an AROD ability to ruin a day that we should all be celebrating his accomplishment. He is lucky this is a Friday it would be Sportscenter gold.

Melo's answer for every question from now on should just be "ball." Pull a Hedo.

No. It might have been "embarrassing" when that happened but let's be real when he came back into the lineup & Linsanity exploded that's when the media, fans, etc were vultures on Melo, wondering how he would fit, criticizing him with any given chance. It didn't reach a major level until Linsanity came out in full force.

As far as him saying that quote in Knicks fans eyes that's another strike against him, he's reaching A-Rod status & I understand the anger, but as someone who believes players should be more blunt and say how they really feel when asked a question I don't have a problem with it. :dontknow:

People are gonna pinpoint him for saying "Linsanity thing" & say "oh well that's all I needed to hear. Melo was a liar this whole time he never did like Lin" or "Melo is a c*nt for bringing up his selfishness he's a primadonna, he should shut his ass up & give political answers."

Negro please, give them that Kobe Bryant treatment, let them cry & b*tch. Problem over here in NY is everybody loses their mind & overreacts like they're directly being affected.

The kobe bryant thing only works when you win a chip. Santonio Holmes just tried that and is being crucified in the media

This is true, but honestly if Holmes or Melo won a chip would it even matter?

They both would still get crucified here lol. But again that's just my opinion on speaking out, because when I played in high school & junior high school I was really outspoken & could care less what my opponents or the opposing fanbase had to say.

Melo's problems with fan perception were always there, way before Lin. There was already a lot of skepticism and negativity at the Garden. If anything, it set the table for Linsanity, not the other way around.

Oh I agree but the point I was harping on is it intensified after Linsanity began. Was the platform there for us the fans to say such & such about him? Yes without a doubt, you already had people saying this, that & third before and after the Melo trade went down.

I guess I'm just the outcast on this lol. Seeing as our fanbase is generally older fans & favors respect, hustle, blue collar guys, it's understandable to me that y'all don't like when a Knicks player speaks out the way Melo has been.

So people are supposed to keep taking shots at you in the media & your supposed just shut-up & play.

@ some point you just get tired. Plain & Simple. Melo got dogged last year by the media. For what reason?

Because people felt he got Pringles fired. Guess what Pringles got Pringles fired. So now with Pringles gone it's all about stealing Lin's shine. Melo didn't want Lin to shine because it would over look him as the Franchise Player.

The stuff people come up with is freakin hilarious.

Also let's not mention Melo ran Lin out of NY, by telling Dolan not to match

Lin isn't here because he never wanted to be here & I really don't believe the reports including his own words about wanting to stay in NY
