Even with Noah's contract he can be the untradeable vet. With Melo and Rose off the books we'll have plenty of money. Probably wont spend it.

This has to be a Nets-Celtics type deal. Get picks down the road under the assumption the team you're trading him has a very small window before they suck really bad.

Literally their only weak spot is the 3. Having Melo be the tertiary playmaker, focusing on catch-and-shoot, would be glorious

I'd be willing to do it we get 2 future first round picks from them unprotected in 2020-2022, in addition to Redick and Crawford, assuming we can flip Redick and Crawford for some additional picks and young talent.

This is a decent deal to consider.

I think it works..
For example, I know the Sixers were interested in Crawford in the offseason, and we know they need guard play. Maybe they trade Sacrementos 2019 First Rounder for Crawford that they own.
Redick is an expiring.. maybe OKC, Washington, Charlotte, Indiana, would be interested in Redick as a rental for their 2017 First Round Pick, in the 20s.

While it might be spread out, 4 first rounders would be a haul.
I'd love to feel like the Celtics feel right now, knowing you put together a faulty superteam in exhange for future first rounders and then watch it crash and burn and get unprotected first rounders in 2021 and 2023 from the Clips

Redick/Crawford and future unprotected picks is a really good deal, especially since we can flip Redick and Crawford to other contenders. Those two have a lot of value.

Crawford has negative value and they can't give us a pick until 2020.

I'd rather get late unprotected picks form them. CP3 and Melo will be 35+...blake might not even be there. THose could eventually be really nice lotto picks.

yes and no. You want to maximize his asset. But he is still our best player which means we should lose a lot more games. So trading him will help our own pick.

We are losing pretty well with him. This team is one Injury away from helping our own pick. To toss him away for nothing is dumb.

Oh I'm not suggesting nothing. I don't consider a couple unprotected 1sts (even if they are down the road nothing).

And Melo is playing really well. We are in these games because he is scoring really efficiently right now. Also he's not built like stone anymore a shoulder injury or something and we would be stuck big time. He's playing really well and the 3 teams that he is rumored to possibly be a match (CLE, BOS, and LAC) are all struggling so we might have more leverage at this point.

At All cost you maximize the value .Picks 4 years from now is no good to me.You also not getting a couple of firsts for him. You Trade a player of Melo caliber and that asset should benefit you in the short term.

If you're willing to wait 4 years for an asset to pay off, then so be it. The time that rookie develops it'll be 2023

If we trade with the Clipps, then that's what I'd want, but I rather not trade with them.

Priority number #1 is get rid of the player that wants to leave.

Priority number #2 is suck as much as possible this year.

Priority number #3 is try and get as much as you can for him even though your leverage is shot.

we are not building in the "short" term if we deal melo. This is not a future team. You don't trade away your best player to try to get better in the short term.

This obviously is turning into a KP's the man and we are going to build around his window which is the next couple of season until we are probably good.

I'm not trying to get short term players. We need to have a longer view. Down the road. The type of deal like the celtics which is reaping the rewards 3-4 years down the road.

Also if we got Blake or Love somehow they should be traded as well. Neither is as good as melo is in the short term and all the would be doing is keeping us status quo. If you get love or blake you move them for future picks.
