that's all he has lol.
dsj is living proof that you can be very athletic and throw down rim rocking dunks, yet still be a mediocre basketball player.

moocow007 wrote:Smith's biggest problem is his ego. It's been talked about before where he thinks he's better than he is and knows more than he does. Even his trainer basically (and indirectly) said that in a recent interview about how playing with KD would help Smith Jrs game explode. Talent and tools are there. It's the maturity and team play (playing with others and making his teammates better) that he needs to figure out. Kinda like another former Knick guard.

well he quit on his college team
he quit on his nba team once it was luka's team
he had fun here chucking and ducking, but if he's on the team next year it's off the bench because he's not better than kyrie or kemba.
will he quit on his 3rd team in 4 years? or stop being a entitled nobody?

Mediocre is pretty solid for a sophmore who was the youngest player in his draft class.

Re: Dennis Smith, Jr. Thread
So what you guys are saying is that if we were to get Kyrie Irving then theres no room for backups who couldve themselves been developed into talented starting PGs, and that instead we should trade him and then have Frank Ntilikina be the backup?
You guys are never satisfied. Way too caught up with the side stories rather than assets

no it’s not.
he can’t shoot, he’s bad at almost every offensive category.

i never said that, in fact i think dsj is a bench player.
dsj however doesn’t think so, he thinks he’s already good. he’s quit on 2 teams and if he’s coming off the bench sulking as always, he might quit on another team.

Re: Dennis Smith, Jr. Thread
Why is DSJ such a point of contention for some? He has talent and is committed to working on further development. Is that not all anyone can ask? Is he stopping somebody else on the team from playing? Is he a locker room problem? Is he a distraction off the court? He’s young and shows tons of potential. Why not give him a chance? He’s only been here since the trade deadline last season. Not even a full season yet.

With 2:27 left in what would ultimately become an 88-58 blowout loss to Wake Forest, freshmen Dennis Smith Jr. motioned to his coach.
He wanted out.
Mark Gottfried probably feels the same way.
I think his coach got fired after the game.

Cause some posters got their own agendas here. I’m just happy that the Knicks got a pg prospect with star potential and I will continue to root for him to reach his potential in a Knick jersey unlike some people here.

It’s like when lil bitches make subliminal records, if it ain’t directed directly at me, I don’t respect it

I'll let BNO speak for himself, but I think he was referring to DSJ leaving the team for a bit in January due to trade rumors/injuries/weird stuff....

I thought it was either him or Frank and the difference was a month or so. In any case he was young. If I'm wrong who was?

I think we're being too dramatic. Most starters would even understand being supplanted by a player with the talent level of Kyrie Irving. In fact I think itd be easier to digest than what happened in his case where he was the 9th pick drafted as PG on a lottery team, he does well in his rookie year (15&5 are solid 1st yr numbers) only for his team to draft a SF, have that SF play the point and then tell you to find some corner to stand around and shoot 3s in. Even so, idk if you realize this but his efficiency went up in his second year prior to the trade albeit with slightly lower box stats.
So I think it was less about starting vs non starting or being the man vs not being the man and more about a total change in THE WAY Dennis was asked to approach the game. And I believe most PGs would have similar issue. On a much greater level with two greater players, it'd be like the Rockets trading for CP3 but heres the kicker; them telling him to play SG so that Harden could play PG. Now idk how exactly Dennis handled that. I wasnt there and neither were you. We get small pieces of info and run with it but what I do know is that he is on the Knicks, he is indeed a point guard and I have no intentions of playing him at any position except PG and it's at that position that I will judge him accordingly. You dont have to tell me you think hes a great player cuz he isnt, but theres nothing that says he couldn't develop into a starting PG based on what we've seen so far besides a good problem to have, which is a superstar point guard starting ahead of him. And I'm sure he'd understand that as well
